Thanks for the encouragement guys...I've seen some pros and cons for Clearhead and some other ingrown hair/razor bump eradicators...is there any clear opinion on what works the best and wear to get it?

Hey shaveme.  Like several others have said you may need to try several different razors and/or blades before you find what works best for your head.  I know that when I first started I tried the headblade and liked the idea (I even bought the metal one) but the origional 2 blade cartriges they used would tear my head up every time.  The triple blade cartriges they have now don't cut me but I don't get a very close shave with them and have to go back over it with the fusion anyway.  The best thing I have found for my head is a Mach3 power or Fusion Power.  I get a close shave with either (a little better with the fusion) and neither has ever cut me.  Bald looks good on you.  You should do some more experimenting before deciding to give it up.

What do you use to shave your face? if you use a fusion use the straight single edge around your ear, if you use any other blade us that blade to shave around your ear, i find the Headblade doesn't get around my ears properly.

As for nicks, and cuts it's a combo of too much pressure, not enough head slick, and unshaven skin, IF you remember from your teenage days when you frist started shaving your face cut easy too.

shaveme, don't throw in the towel just yet.

I think you should switch to a razor that you're more familiar with.
It takes time and perseverance to get the scalp seasoned. In no time you're head will toughen up. The sore spots will disappear and you'll be the pro like the rest of us.

OK, So two days later I shaved tonight...same process, except i used a fusion and afterwards I first applied Bump Patrol, then Nivea aftershave for sensitive skin, then headlube. Definitly stung a lot with product on there...and my heads pretty tingly now(and some flecks keep building up...must be too much headlube...haha). I guess we'll just keep going...

Bro, I scrub the everluvins out of my scalp with a shower puff (no, they don't make you gay, and if you are gay, that's cool too).  I rarely get bumps anymore, but I used to get them frequently.  Rememer, too, they don't look that bad.  When was the last time you ever thought of someone you knew who tended to get bumps and burn on their neck and thought "wow, that guy gets the worst razor burn".  The point being, it sucks a little, but it's not like you have third degree burn scars.  And you look like you have a nice head shape.

But yeah, if you haven't yet, go the dollar store and get a shower puff, worked wonders for me.

I use the shower puff, I am gay and don't think thats what did it,  to and think it helps cleanse the scalp. I also use Vaseline intensive care lotion after I shave, both the face and scalp, I think it is better than a lot of alcohol.

One thing that helps me is the cold water rinse after the shave is done... some guys use ice!  ::)

Absolutely, I've read the two keys to fighting "the bump" are 1. softening the hair (so it doesn't poke and irritate the skin once it gets shaved down to the top layer) and 2. cleansing the scalp so the hair you've just shaved doesn't drag bacteria into the pours and cause infection (which causes break outs).

BTW, went camping last year, no showerpuff, just lathered with my hands.  Sure enough...bumps and burn.  Shower puffs kick ass!

First stick with it, it will get better.  Second, I have found that washing the scalp with an antibacterial soap after shaving helps reduce bumps.  Third a good  washing with a wash cloth with clean away dead skin and give your head a slick feel and a great shine.  Fourth I believe in the cold water splash afterwards to soothe the scalp and get a bright shine.

Like everyone else here has said stick with it and the trial and error will not be long. Lately I have been just using the clearhead after the shave (after the cold water rinse and an ice cube rub down) and this has been going great. I JUST tried this a couple of weeks ago and I have been sly for a few years. I just won't come over night. Just stick with it O0
