do you think i would suit a bald head?
« on: February 06, 2008, 09:38:42 AM »
my hair has been thinning and receeding for a year now. It has gotten to the point where my forehead is massive and i have to keep my hair at a #2 grade. It is getting me really depressed because im only just 19 and dont think i would suit a bald head and have recently split up with my gf so my confidence is low.
im just wondering if any of you think i could look good with a bald head? im thinking a #0 or 1/2# with the clippers. (although you may have a biased opinion)

here are 3 pics atm:

any advice, comments, opinions etc would be very helpful. thank you.

bones....welcome 2 the sly fraternity.  glad that ya found us.  i think that U should just "shave it off" with a razor.  U R already 90% there.  why not go all the way?  it's like baseball.  why settle 4 a double when U can hit a homerun?!?
i PROMISE u that U will not regret it.  you're obviously thinking about it  because U wouldn't B on this site if u weren't.
u will never satisfy your thoughts (on shaving your head) until u  "do the deed".  so....i say "scrape" that noggin' smooooth with a quality razor like the fusion, mach3, or headblade.  besides....chicks dig the long ball.   O0

Welcome bones.  You have come to the right place for help and advice.  I echo warhawk that shaving it right down is the best thing to do.   But as you seem unsure, how about taking it down in stages.  Give yourself a #1 and progress down to a #0.  At that point you will have a great idea of how great it will look totally sly.   And once you shave it will only be a few days till you are back to zero if you are unhappy with the results.  I doubt that though as we have all found that being sly is great for the confidence, the freedom from worry and the fact the ladies love it.

I think it would be great on you.  Just get shorter and shorter and then razor it.  (carefully the first few times)

Go for it.

OH JUST GO FOR IT DUDE.  I THINK YOU WOULD LOOK HOT! LOL..
No seriously....I dont see any reason why you shouldnt.  You already have it fairly short the way it is now.  Take it down in stages and once you get to where you cant go any shorter with the clippers shave it off.
I know waht will happen though.... You will go into the bathroom...get out the clippers.....you will clip it down shorter....admire it for a little bit....go back in and decide to go just a little shorter......admire it some more....maybe clip it just a little further....then you will finally get to the point and say ahhhhhhh hell with it ..and out comes the razor....I see all of this taking place in about a 30 minute time frame.
Look at it this way too bro....if you dont like it....a week tops and your hair will be back to about what you have now....Good Luck...ask questions if you feel the need..

I say go for it Bones, from the pics it looks like you're almost there anyway. If you don't like it, it will grow back to the length of a no guard clipper shave in about 48 hours. We would also recommend giving it the 30-day trial. If you don't think it suits you after that, grow it back. But I'll bet you stick with SLY.

Glad you joined us by the way!!!

Welcome bro!

Here's the deal....shaving your head smooth will take you away from being the "balding" guy...to the I want a bald head guy...

the balding guy will look like a victim....a dude that shaves it smooth (not buzzed close) will look like that's what HE WANTS!

Shave it smooth brutha, trust us, there are a lot of younger dudes here on the site that have improved dating lives BECAUSE of their newly skinned heads!

Go for it and go live a good life! O0

You'll look great!

Dude:

Roll the dice.  Get thee a HeadBlade ($15), shave that peach down and try for a couple of weeks.  If you just can't stand it, it'll grow back to its previous, lustrous condition.

Seriously, just cut it.  Hell, a clean dome, black shirt, and sly smile makes even the cheapest sunglasses look cool.  Anyone asks why, just wink and say, "As you know, balding is caused by high testosterone.  I decided to just make it easy on myself."

I was a Military Policeman for awhile and maintained the bootcamp haircut for most of my time in service.  This was before my hairline noticeably receded and pre-dates HeadBlade technology.  Nowadays, seeing that cut reminds me of this idiot...

Bones, I can see the depression in your eyes in the pics and it makes me sad  :(
This is the one thing you can control in your life, and believe me the girls will be impressed at the mature decision you have made to shave it. And at your age alot of girls are looking for the mature guy.
Read through the different shave routines on the site and go for it. I strongly suggest shaving in the shower for your first shave and use a fogless mirror, and take your time to avoid nicking your scalp. Using headslick will help alot.
Your gonna rock the Sly look  8)

PS... welcome to SGB and be sure to post up a pic after.
