DOES your loved one let U hang out with your friends??
« on: February 06, 2008, 08:14:36 AM »
hello fellow chrome domes....just wondering....this topic was discussed at work.  as most of U know...i'm a registered nurse at a very busy medical/surgical floor.  which means...i work with a bunch of women (or as we like 2 say "lay-days")...anyways.... some (20%) of the female RNs don't allow their husbands 2 go out with the boys. >:( >:(
i was completely angered during R discussions.  i told them that i'm glad that i'm NOT married 2 them because i firmly believe that a husband needs 2 have his own friends and vice versa.

i'll start this topic off by saying my wifey likes it when i hang out with the boys because she feels that i need that time away from her and that my friends R a part of my life (even b4 i met her).  besides...she completely trusts me and i do the same 4 her.  so....how 'bout U?  does your loved one or significant other let U hang out with the boys?  or does she put U in the cage and throw the master keys in her purse?  what's your story?

The Lovely Mrs. Schro is very good about this. However, with a very busy 7 yr old & 9 yr old, my "dude" time is pretty limited. I have a couple of real close friends that are avid golfers like I am, and most of my dude time is spent playing a round of golf. The nice thing is, their families and ours have a lot in common. Their kids are similar in age, they go to the same school, and play sports together (Their daughter is on the soccer team I coach). So, getting dude time is usually not an issue. Plus, I encourage the Mrs. to have her chick time.

One piece of advice the minister gave us on our wedding day was "Take great vacations together and great vacations apart".

My wife has always been great about this, even more so that the little okies are 10 & 11.
I have one buddy from high school I hang out with about once a month. I also have a group of guys who have a movie night about once every other week.

My situation is much the same as Schro's. Two kids at home, 6 and 9 years old, so their is not a lot of guy time. I coach both kids in various sports. My guy time is golf and hanging out with the other hubbies while the wives hang out and the kids all play together.

I kind of like that way..........

Maybe if we can all get it worked out.  I don't have any close guy friends here in GA.  Don't get me wrong, I have friends.  We all have jobs and families and other obligations so the time is not really there.

Im the same way....I really dont have that Hang out time.....I have friends....several of whom i consider close friends.  With the way life is nowadays.......who has time?    I remember the days when you could just call up a buddy and say hey ...lets go out...sure what time?  Now...come pick me up.
Now when you call...you get ..well I have to be at this sporting event and then I have to do this or do that....ummmm so lets say next tuesday night ...we will go out but it will have to be after 7 and I need to be home by 10..............am I right??? its the truth isnt it?

I think those days will come back again once the kids are all grown and out on their own.  But I wouldnt trade what I have right now for anything in the world.....these days are too limited...like my oldest....4 more years she will be in college...doesnt seem possible.....but you cant stop time..
or can you?

My wife is cool enough that most of the time she comes along but if it is a "guy thing" she is totally cool with that too.

Just spent a "guys weekend" in Whistler, she was stoked for me.

I am more concerned with the "don't allow their husbands 2 go out with the boys" part of this.  I dont know about you guys but for my wife to say I am "Not allowed" to do something is almost a sure fire way to get me to do it....

She should start saying things like "Your not allowed to mow the lawn".

Not really, but my extra time is spent around whatever my son has going on.  We have some close friends, but we don't have time to socialize.

"Let me"?  I wear the pants in this family!  :Xo!

Okay, my wife tells me which pair to wear...  :*))

Seriously, we sometimes do our own thing.  We just like being with each other the most.  Of course, we're still newly weds.  36+ years.  ^-^

Since the little man has come along, We've put our social lives on hiatus for awhile. Luckily, my best friend and his wife live only 5 minutes up the road so we usually get together on weekends for a few brews and a bbq. Prior to that, they lived over an hour away on the other side of the city. We would only get time to get together about once every month or so, and I'd spend the next day ,hungover, trying to get public transport home.
