Should I go sly?

I've been toying around with the idea of shaving my head for quite some time. Mentioning it to my friends usually gives me a negative response to the idea. This seems to be the theme around here from reading other posts, but I'm not sure if they're wrong because I have a slim build (5'8 150), although I do regularly lift. And who knows what shape my head will be after the fact.

I don't think my hair looks extremely bad, but I have noticed that just because of this balding my once high confidence has dropped quite a lot so something has to be done. Please look at the pictures below and let me know if I should shave it all off. If not, what do I do with it... as you can see I don't have too much hair left in the front.

Welcome to SBG's, timerhyme.  Glad you posted.  My advice is to shave it off.  I'm just guessing that you're right where each of us have been, and from my experience, you won't be satified with yourself until you've given it a try.  You might want to start by buzzing your hair down to a shorter cut to get used to it, or if you got the desire, just do it all at once.  But what ever you decide, I strongly suggest at least working your way towards SLY.

Welcome to Sly Bald Guys!  As KC said, I think you should also shave it off.  With your curent hairline, I can see that you have a nice round profile from the front.  I think you'd be amazed at how good you'll look with a shaved head, especially with your strong jaw line. (Wow, I don't think I've ever analyzed a person's face like this before)

Oh...dude...without question....shave it smooth dude!

You will look WAY better and like Tyler said, it will improve and actually make your stronger feature show more...

NEVER ask if you should shave your head to someone that has hair...they will never get it until they see your improved look once it shaved smooth!

Of course, I agree with my other sly brothers in that you should do it.  And echoing what Tyler said, you look like you can pull it off as it is, so take Nike's advice....Just Do It!

Is there any other answer to this question?  The answer is always yes, and even if it weren't it would still be yes in this case.

I'll be completely honest -- you really do need to do something about your hair.  Too much bulk on the sides and back is never a good look once the top starts to recede and thin.  At the very minimum, you need a short buzz cut.  A complete shave would look awesome on you.  Don't even hesitate about it; you'll look a lot better and younger and that will do a world of good for your flagging confidence.

I hope I haven't offended you.  I really do think you'd look great with a shaved head, and if you will just take that leap of faith and do it, I can guarantee that you'll be thanking us afterwards.

Of course the answer is "SHAVE IT"!

No offense intended, but that's not a good look you have going on. As Razor said above..... I would at least buzz it very short.

Keep asking questions on this site for a ton of answers and support.

No offense taken. Actually that picture is a month old and the sides of my head are even more buff with hair. I completely agree that something needs to be done about it. Tomorrow I will take the plunge. If i can't go all the way shaved, I will at least get a buzz cut. Thanks for your opinions.

Welcome to the site bro...but I will add....the top pic...not too bad...the bottom pic....I would probably jump across the street to the other sidewalk ifyou were walking towards me! LOL...
No its not that bad...but that bottom pic....needs to go.  Just shave it down...see what you think...its hair...it will grow back.  I think you will be satisified with the look and once you are bitten.....you wont go back. I guarentee it.....I guarentee it soo much that BaldAndre will grow all his hair back....cornrow it...with pink ribbons and walk down the middle of NYC...in the famous red and whites.....

Won't that be a sight!  However, in the middle of NYC, I am not so sure he'll be much of a spectacle, with as many "different" folks that wander those streets.

Welcome to SBG,  Timer ...  I agree with all the advice the other guys have given you.   It seems like radical move shaving it all off, but once you've done it the freedom it brings is just unbelievable.  You will likely regret that you didn't do it sooner.

Maybe grow a goatee to go along with your new look ...

I agree with the other guys you need to shave it all off.  Your only other option is to go really short.  If you don't cut it short or shaved then you get the bozo the clown hair style going.  No offense, it happens to most guys before they shave it all off.
