Best disposable razors?
« on: January 31, 2008, 07:41:19 PM »
Yeah, so my wife and her ever helpful family came over and "organized" my house before she moved in following the wedding, and they managed to "misplace" my sweet stainless steel HeadBlade.  The one I won off eBay, with its own display case and everything.  Yeah, tell me about it.

Anyway, until that is found or a suitable replacement found, I've been shaving with disposables.  I never liked Mach 3, plus the blades are mad expensive and I'm practically on welfare.  So, I wanted to hear your thoughts on the best disposable razors.  Whats the best / most inexpensive ones out there?  Or am I the only pathetic soul using disposables?

If you must use a disposable razor, the Schick Xtreme 3 is not bad.  Not as good as "real" razor but it will do in a pinch.

I've been on disposables for awhile, so I know they're do-able.  I just get the cheap kind and go through one a day.  But thought there might be better ones out there than the low-end, target brand.  My poor scalp.  Really should spring for HB Sport, but walgreens was out and I'm still crossing my fingers my old one will turn up.

I have a HB Sport still sealed up in the package. I've just always liked the results I'm getting with the HB Classic (can't see the Sport doing anything the Classic can't). It's funny how Razor mentioned the Extreme3 disposable. I use the Extreme3 "regular" razor for my face and have not found a better face razor (IMHO). Never tried the Ex3 disposables. When I think disposables, I think Bics, Good News, and cheapo-s you get at Target, Walgreens, CVS, etc.

Good Luck.

I've tried the Extreme 3 disposables.  They're not bad for a disposable.  Worth a try in a pinch.

Cheap disposable razors are a false economy.  Even the Xtreme 3s, which give a fairly decent shave, don't last as long.  The few times I used them, I only got 4 or 5 shaves out of one -- as opposed to 10 to 14 with a Mach III blade.

I got a good deal on eBay a while back -- 100 Mach III Turbo blades for $95 .  Can't remember if the shipping was free or not.  If not, it was minimal because I just don't pay high shipping fees.  There are some good deals out there -- you just need to be careful that you don't get counterfeit blades.  I didn't find out about the counterfeit problems -- which apparently are fairly common -- until after I bought mine.  Luckily mine have serial numbers on the cartridge so they are legit.

RazorX, I bought Mach 3 razors from Sams Club, and got 45 shiny new blades for $70.00.... no shipping  O0

Cameron, I think I would have to grab a headblade... by the time you use the one or two time razors you could have saved up for the headblade...... you could stretch the razor for about a week
Your head will thank you for it.........

cameron....i'm sorry but i hate disposable razors.  why not treat your scalp 2 a quality razor like the fusion or headblade if u don't like the mach3.  well...if u must get a disposable...the gillette sensor 3 is okay however give me the fusion anyday.  WHY don't u try a fusion razor.  i know i i know people complain of the price but  it's not like you're going 2 be homeless or become bankrupt if u bought some fusion razors.  i've never heard of anyone being homeless because they shave with the fusion razors.  hey....your scalp is worth the money and besides your scalp will thank you 4 using something good like the fusion.

The best disposables....are the ones that are still in the package.

I'd just pick you up another HeadBlade Sport.  You'll save the money in bandages and styptic pencils

Dude, I can't imagine life without my HB S4.  Even though I dropped mine a while back, and the hinge is in a permanent down position, it's still awesome.  I can still squeeze my finger in it.  I have to agree that the Xtreme III is a pretty good disposable.  I love the way it contours to your head.  But I would probably go for the Headblade Sport because the replacement blades save you so much in the long run.  I have an original HB with no wheels, but I imagine the Sport gives similar results to the S4.  Good luck finding the 'misplaced' S4; it's too bad they don't make them anymore.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

As well as using Mach3 I also regularly use Xtreme3 disposables, and find them to be the best disposables about.  I like the flexi blade.  I usually get about a week of shaves out of one, though I have noticed, in a pack of four, usually two or three are sharper and last longer than that.  I've never cut myself with the Xtreme3. 8)

Best disposables?  None of them.
