I bought a bottle, and received a spoon for Christmas, I'll be trying it soon. I've heard they're selling a lot of it in the French Quarter. Las Touristas are willing to foot the bill, we natives are too cheap.

Dan, this is because true Absinthe contains wormwood which allegedley has some pychedelic properties.Yeah, it's distilled wormwood extract mixed with melissa and other herbs. Thujone is the active ingredient. Which, what I think is stupid is it's illegal to distribute, but yet fresh sage can have up to 50% of that chemical in it, Stonge absinthe only has I think 12-20%. What I've been told is that the psychedelic properties haven't been proven, but it is a stimulant, so mixed with alcohol the 2 substances clash and produce the "weird feeling". There was a book out awhile ago called "legal highs". All kindas stuff you can get messed up on from the grocery store. Eating or juicing a butt load of parsley is suppose to give you a buzz. Another one is smokin banana peels. I tried that one years ago. Didn't do crap for me though.
