I don't know how it started, but my mom said something like "You know, if you grew your hair out, you'd look like Tom Cruise and people wouldn't be as afraid of you." *rolls eyes*
Do I really want to look like this guy?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=HU4p5CcZvh4Din't think so

I happen to like Tom Cruise. He is a great actor (you can say all you want about him, but he is a great actor, from action movies to dramatic movies to romantic comedies, I haven't seen much from him that isn't enjoyable). He has an amazing wife (Katie Holmes is hot).
The only thing that people can find wrong with him is that he has a weird religion. That is all well and good, but to me, Christianity is just as crazy and weird as some of the Scientology stuff.
Tom Cruise rocks!

EASY, Cory.....that don't cut it around here, dude. Not only will you step on toes BIG TIME around here (including mine)...
...it immediately and blatantly violates SBG board standards, bro
I'd be more than happy to get into what that statement says "TO ME" about you....but we can't go there, man.

I don't mean to get into a religion discussion, I was just explaining things about Tom Cruise that people don't like about him (and that is one of the first things mentioned, usually).

eh i see cory's point. imagine you either aren't particularly religious or of a religious faith other than christianity and your only knowledge of it comes from sensationalistic news (google search westboro baptist church, for example). additionally, think about how muslims feel when people tend to associate islam with terrorism. it's easy to see, then how these poor representations of certain groups can affect people's opinions/views/etc

I ain't beatin' any one down that much.
Yeah, mentioning Scientology when discussing Tom Cruise is fine.
Adding the other bit about your malinformed views of Christianity has nothing to do with Tom Cruise. And would/will be offensive to a good group of Christian folks 'round here.

LOL!!
I got to meet him back in the '80's at my parents' house believe it or not....so it was a personal and prolonged setting.
He was a really nice and down-to-earth guy. We're the same age.
He had just done "Top Gun" so was already a HUGE star.
He left his wallet behind when he left. Checked out his driver's license.....
...his real name is
Thomas Cruise Mapother
