Gah-My hair is dead(er)
« on: January 19, 2008, 08:52:03 PM »
Okay- My hair is dead(er). I am a big fan of bleach n' dyes(Greens, Reds, Blues) and once or twice I fried my hair. The last time I did it it really dried my hair and I am thinking of shaving it off(For fear It will fall out and then there would be a mess.. everywhere).
But I have allways been 'affraid' of shaving it all off-Even the first time I bleached my hair(If you tuged on it atleast three hairs would break).
Any ways to overcome the 'fear'?

Thanks!
D.A

(Oh yes, And if you are wondering- my hair is green)

If you decide to shave it off, you should be aware of one dangerous side effect.  You may like it, and decide never to have green, or blue, or purple, or any hair again...   ...You have been warned...  O0 8)

Hi, and from one newbie to another, welcome to SBG. I was in your position in mid-November. I was strongly considering a shave, but I always held back. I was the type of guy who kept a perfect head of hair. I even experimented with dyes and such too. Then when I really got down to it, the only thing I realized I feared is how it would effect my self-image.

I "manned up" so to speak, and took a razor to my head last night. Through the whole process, I really got to thinking (resulting in 1 nick, but not bad). I realized that the countless hours I've spent in front of my mirror with a hairdryer, comb, gel, or what have you, was just simple hair vanity. That was the hardest part to shave away at. Once I let go of that vain streak, it was like freedom.

Plus, it's kind of fun. Even in a day, I find a lot of things feel different as a bald guy. The wind in my ha.. er, on my head. The feel of the headrest in my car and even a hat feels different and kind of cool (but why wear one of those?). However, when all was said and done, I realized that my hair is not truly gone and that if I decide I don't like this choice, it will be back soon anyway. However, it's not looking like a choice I'm personally going to go back on.

So all I can do is echo the sentiments of my sly fellows here and say: What have you got to lose besides something that will grow back if you don't like it? Just food for thought.

And remember that there's a wealth of experience here on the SBG forums for any questions that you may have. A resource that I truly intend to make use of. Hope that helped with your decision!

Welcome Jon!  Great post!

ADDER.......... It's simple...... Take that first swipe with the razor right down the middle-o-the-melon..... then you will have to continue..... ;D
