Baldness a Blessing in Disguise?
« on: January 19, 2008, 05:54:38 AM »
Hey bros,

First off I would like to apologize for not contributing these past few months. I have just been going through some family and work issues and thankfully they have been resolved. Last week I actually came back and started to read all of the new intros that people have been posting up and I noticed most of the new guys that have joined are fairly young like me(23). Many of us are probably or have already felt the pain of losing hair at such a young age but believe for me, it has been a blessing in disguise at least for me. Some people reading this will say WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!?! HOW CAN YOU EVEN THINK OF MPB AS A BLESSING!?!?!?! Well let me tell you why it has been a blessing for me. When I had hair I never worked out, I ate really fatty food and my overall health was not that good. I was very very shy and I could barely get through a presentation in front my peers. All in all I was weak. When MPB hit at the age of 21 I realized I could either try to hide it and live my life out like a little girl or I could do something about it. I chose to DO something about it and first thing was to shave off the rest of my hair. Once I shaved it off I felt as if I took a huge weight off my head  :*)), it's a hard feeling to explain but after doing the deed I was able to change my life for the better. Now I am successful not only professionally but socially. Even in my community kids see me as a role model and my peers respect me. I could go on with all of the good things that have happened to me and OH YEAH! I forgot to mention the opposite sex :). Met this beautiful girl at work and well she chose me instead of the SKINNY GUY WITH HAIR! I will give more details later and hopefully with her permission I can post up a picture of her and you all be the judge  O0. So to all the young bros out there, don't let MPB OR ANYTHING ELSE take over your life. We got one life so LIVE it.

Great post, Kojak! It is empowering to go sly. It IS about a positive attitude.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

Same here.  I think shaving your head is like redecorating one room in your house.  There's a spill-over affect and you realize that the rest of the rooms need refurbishing as well.

I'm in that boat right now... painted one room and now realize the rest need painting too!

KojakJR, great affirmation of what that seemingly large step of shaving your head can do for confidence in most, if not all areas of life!!

This is the kind of story and attitude that encouraged me to go clean and join this group myself.

Very well said. I'm around your age and I wholeheartedly agree. I am starting to really take care of myself now that I do not have to worry about hair and all the hassles that came with trying to make it look good and whatnot.

Hopefully more of the younger brothers read this and jump to our side of the fence!  O0
