hello fellow chrome domes..... as most of u know today is my 1st day of eating healthy.  i'm kicking the junk food in the nads & embracing the healthy life style.  i didn't realize how difficult it is but i'm hanging in there.  anyways.....last night...i was flipping thru the remote control and discovered this sly chef named nathan lyon.  he cooks healthy foods.  have u heard of him?  anyways.... he is a fellow sly guy & i'll probably get some tips/info from his show.

I've seen him.  What are you doing trying to control your intake and watching things like Food Network?  I wind up drooling at Giada on Every Day Italian, and her food sometimes too!  She ain't my Daddy's Julia Child, now is she?

 I'll be working up my courage for a diet, at least 15#, starting Ash Wednesday.  I'll use my basic mantra, "Nothing white!" Only whole grain bread, and when I eat them pasta & rice.  Lots of steamed fresh veggies, except carrots, green salad--but not iceberg lettuce--each night, dressed w/ olive oil and vinegar.  No meat or fish serving larger than a deck of cards.  And of course, no spirits, particularly beer--too much salt.   By Easter, I'm usually checking empty potato chip bags for crumbs!  This system makes you really crave white but I've been consistently successful getting back to weight.   I can usually keep it down, unless May West's saying hits me hard, "I always resist temptation, unless it's irresistable!"  And in New Orleans and South Louisiana there are LOTS of irresistable temptations--crawfish season is coming!

Mel, I love to watch this guy.  I see him on FIT TV.  He's an awesome representative of SLY.  Great chef, also.

I like watching food network....my wife hates it when I watch it cause not too long afterwards im in the kitchen making a mess....my theory to her is...a mess cook is a good cook.  LOL
Yes I am seeing more and more bald guys on tv.  They were even interviewing this guy from the Senate..younger guy....had his head shaved bald too..i was like...ok i dont know what party you are with..BUT ROCK ON DUDE! LOL

Isn't it kinda funny how we look for others Sly's and seem to notice that we're everywhere.  It's almost like we develop a sense of SLY radar.

I agree, I love watching Everyday Italian...Wonderful that they seem to abide by the Giada "rack cam" and never go more than 45 sec. without gratuitous ogling...

Also, Lyon is a great chef and as a budding gourmand myself, I hope you can get a lot of good out his work!
