More headblade questions
« on: January 12, 2008, 09:59:57 PM »
Friends!

I am really taking a liking to the headblade. At first I didnt like it because I used the HB brand dubs and it mangled me. I started using the HB trips and like it.

I think I have the technique down good enough that I can give the dubs a try again. What is the deal with the adaptors? I only have the yellow one. Do I need the black one?

Should I use a 2 blade if I am prone to irritation? Could someone please break down the specific brands of double and triple blades I can use and what adapter I will need? Thanks a lot!  O0

Hey Nick.

Great to hear your shaving experience with the Headblade is getting better. Most Headbladers on this site had a mirrored experience that you had but after patience and practice, they now swear by it.

The HB Classic (and Sport I assume) comes with 2 adaptors that fit the Atra style cartridges which also happen to be the same of the HB brand doubles and triples. There is also a 3rd adaptor that comes with it that will fit the Sensor cartridges. The color isnt important as my adaptor that fits the HB doubles and Atras is Black and my Sensor adaptor is yellow.

Nick some HB devices may not include these adaptors. I purchased the 20 blade refill HB double kit which came with these 3 adaptors. The HB itself only comes with the HB/Atra adaptor.

Personally, I prefer the Sensor cartridges(double blades). The problem with Triples IMHO is that the razor gunks up too quickly and therefore doesnt provide as smooth a shave. Again this doesnt apply for everyone as there are quite a few SBG's who use the Triples.

I prefer the gillette sensor 3 blades with the adaptor. I tend to nick myself with the doubles for some reason.

Are they better than the HB Triples? Do they take the black or yellow adaptor?

They take the black adapter on the sport. They seem to last longer than the headblade triples did, but its been a while since I used the headblades. What I like about the gillette is the three rubber strips that tend to lift the hair before it gets cut. That could be the key to the better shave.
