I want to thank you guys for all the great info. I've been reading for a week or two. I took the leap last night and shaved er down. I had some help. My kids each had a turn with the Wahl trimmer making roads on my head, then I took over. What a liberating feeling. The only down side is that I happened to do this on the coldest day in MN. This mornings temp was -1. I need to go out and get some more stocking caps.
I'll have some pictures soon.

Ahoy, Johnny. Welcome aboard. I admire you for yaking the plunge at this time of year. While you're buying hats, consider a nightcap. They're available from the Vermont Country Store. When you're newly shaved, the cold of the pillowcase can come as a shock the first couple of times. By spring and summer, you'll be glad you've become sly. Professor Melon

Hey Johnny, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!
It's posts like this that really make my day. Though I really love hanging out and talking to all of the guys on the forum about various topics, when someone benefits from the information here and is able to take the leap from it I get a big smile on my face.

Congrats- I'm right behind you. I remember my first shave-like yours, was in mid winter. My friend(also shaved), took me for a ride in his convertable that night with the top down...what an amazing feeling, lol. Beanies are a life saver- I learned that after about five minutes of that car ride.

it is funny but my head doesn't get that cold. my ears do but i think the massiveness of my head soaks up solar warmth and stays warm.

My ears get cold too. But that's just because they stick out too damned far from my head.
