Rob...i was waiting for someone to mention clowns. I dont want to poke fun at that because I know people have serious problems dealing with that....i just cant for the life of me see what is so scary or awkward about a clown. We are all different so if that is what you are afraid of..so be it. I even know someone who is afraid of bubbles and balloons....

Air travel and heights have to be my 2 worst fears. I am the worlds worst flyer. It really sucks as everytime I do fly I have to go 20 hours minimum to visit the family back in Ohio. I no longer drink alcohol on long haul flights. I have suffered severe panic attacks while in mid-air flight.
I also to a lesser extent have a fear of very large ships on large bodies of water. Has anyone ever heard of this. My sister has it too, she has to close her eyes and look away when she sees one.
My friends mother was an agoraphobe(fear of open spaces) all through growing up. She ran a very successful sewing business from home and would never leave the confines of her inner city house and backyard. It was 10 years before she was able to conquer it and it now a well-heeled traveller, having visited over 100 countries in 5 years.

I have a problem with heights. Wasn't until I fell out of a tree making a fort, as a kid, and broke my leg. I can still recall that fall - seemed like it was in slow motion, bouncing from branch to branch.
No problems with any bugs or spiders, but not crazy about most rodents. Perhaps that isn't a phobia, though, and more just wanting to avoid disease-carrying nasty little vermen.

I have been staring at this for a while and really can't think of anything I fear except a slow painful death. I have been snakebit, love rollercoasters, want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, squash cockraches and spiders, and have caught a couple of alligators to realease at the wildlife preserve. I guess all the stuff that has happened or that I have done taught me to embrace my fear of things. I still get the butterflies in the stomach when certain things occur, like skiing or kneeboarding behind a boat and there is a 12 foot alligator on the bank of the river your in, makes you a better skier though!!

I used to enjoy roller coasters ... until after 1,100 flight hours in a Navy P-3.
Not that I'm scared, the rides just seem like work now.

yup in my line of work it is some deep trust to admit your true fears to other guys.
my fear are pretty basic. tight spaces (i too couldn't even think how to spell the word) it doesn't matter if it is small closet or a huge ball room packed with people I will get jittery. and (despite being a soldier) if i see any sort of bug while I have more skin than my hands and face exposed you can bet on me moving to a different spot. If it is a big spider or cockroach i am screaming and crying like a 5 year old girl with a scraped knee.

Roaches make me nauseous; they just gross me out. Where I grew up, we had some monsters. When we moved into our new house when I was young, we were out in the evening. As soon as we turned on the flourescent kitchen light, you could see boat loads of huge roaches scatter... I will never forget that. Heights don't really bother me but if I look down and then start thinking about how easy it would be to die if pushed/stumble, it can kind of make me queasy.

I did some backpacking a few years back and was lucky enough to go to Egypt through my travels. Of course we went to the pyramids, and as I was standing at the entrance to the Great Pyramid getting ready to go inside, I realised I'm claustrophic... there was noooooo way in hell I was gonna go inside that thing. I'm 6'3'' and the entrance was lucky to be 5' tall and really really narrow. So... I turned around and waited for my friends outside.
And rats... disgusting little things they are!!!!!!!!!

Snakes and worms. Can't deal with them. I can handle bugs, roaches and all the other critters fine. Must be the no legs thing. We had a snake in our pool one time just a 3" green snake and I went to get the gun. My wife told me absolutely under NO circumstances was I was going to shoot into the pool. "You're going to blow a hole in the bottom of it." She was right. SHE had to get the net and get it out though.
I went inside and locked the door and opened a nice cold beer.
Heights are cool, in fact I love heights. Went to Chicago in July and went to Sears Tower and the Hancock building. Did you know you can actually go OUTSIDE on the Hancock Observatory. AWESOME! Also rode the
"Big Shot" on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas. That was totally cool. Wife stayed inside.

I hate heights. It even makes me uneasy to see other people standing near the edge of a building, cliff, etc. I once went to the observation deck on the Empire State Building. I was fine with that, however.
I'm also claustrophobic. I don't like snakes too much, at least big ones. I'm perfectly ok admiring the small snakes in a pet store, since they're in an enclosure.
