Hey all, so did everyone have a nice christmas? I sure did. Well do any of you have any children that are on the edge of whether or not Santa is real? My oldest daughter...she knows the truth..but my two younger ones still believe in him 100%. I have a nephew that is in the 5th grade. His name is Mason...and let me tell you ....this kid is smart. He can outwit anyone. Well I guess the kids at school had been talkin about how Santa wasnt real. He didnt want to believe that. He realizes that Santa doesnt always come down the chimney because they dont have one..and that he can magically come thru the key hole on the door. He had informed is mom and dad that he had written a letter to Santa. They wanted to see it but he wouldnt let them. They had noticed that Mason has been acting a little differently so they were curious as to what this letter had in it. One day while his mom was cleaning up his room she found this clear plastic box that had a lock on it, well two locks. She could see inside was a letter addressed to Santa. She searched and searched or the key but couldnt find them. She was like I have to find out what is in that letter. Being that she works at the school, she is around the kids alot and she found one of Masons friends and took him to the side and asked him if Mason had said anything to him about Santa. He said yes that he had written a letter and had locked it away. She said yes I had found that letter but its locked and I cant find the key. He told her that Mason said he hid the key inside one of his toys. He said I never told told Mason santa isnt real...cause I know how much santa means to him. Well she goes home, they search and they search. They found the keys inside of one of his toys inside the battery compartment screwed shut. She gets the letter out..and she finds it ..sealed with a ton of stickers on the back. She is like sh*t....now what am i going to do. She finally gets it open and here is what was in the letter....
Dear Santa, I know you know who I am and my heart is really hurting right now. There are some kids at school who do not believe in you. You have to be real Santa, I will always believe in you when others dont. No one other than God can be as magical as you are. I know you will find this letter because you see everything, you will know where to find the keys to the box that holds this letter. I guess what I am wanting to ask you isnt for you to bring me gifts....but to only bring me the gift that proves to me that you are real. I am going to set up the video camera in the living room near the tree. When you come in ....would you just stand there for a few minutes so I can actually see the real You and when you are finished, would you please turn off the camera because it will run the battery down and my dad will get mad. One other thing I want you to do .....is when you get done here at my house...would you just cut a little piece off of your glove and stick it in this box for me? Santa I love you and I will always believe in you. Signed..Mason.
My brother and his wife didnt know what to do from this point. His mom just sat there and cried her eyes out, because Mason really believes in him
Well Christmas morning came and they had to tell him. They told him that there really isnt a Santa that comes to every boy and girls house. That Santa is very much real in your heart. No one could ever take that away from him. With Santa always being in your heart...you will always feel his presence and it will always bring him Joy and love. I guess Mason took off to his room and cried. Its kind of touching when kids do that....I felt so sorry for him, cause I have never had to deal with that the way they did. But we all need to be reminded of those moments....and that Santa is very much alive in my heart too.....and he will always.

That little guy is something else. A very special kid indeed.

Yeah, we had our neighbor kid do the same thing.....
That is, keep his letter to Santa to himself....not sure what the outcome was.
We try to keep the belief alive as long as possible (particularly with our 8-year-old daughter [no problem with our 5-year-old boy]).
I just remember what an absolute MAGICAL JOY it was to believe in Santa when I was a kid. And though I can't pin point when I figured it all out, it certainly wasn't a tragic, psychy-scarring realization. And it wasn't my parents having to sit me down and break the crushing news.
Personally, I don't think the parents had to cave in at that point with yer nephew. They could have explained that Santa is not subject to silly "proof" experiments.
Similar to (in the real world) God is not subject to stoop to every knucklehead who says, "If God exhists then may he strike me with lightening right now!"
Although, if he did, we'd have a lot less knuckleheads around

I understand what you are saying there Rob....i figured there was other ways around it. But this kid....he really believes in him. I think still today...he thinks he is real....and his parents dont know any better. LOL....but like I said...Santa is still very much real in my heart.

timmy....that is one touching story on your nephew....thanks 4 sharing that story. it brings back some good childhood memories.
paulie....i've heard so much 'bout THE POLAR EXPRESS movie.... i may have 2 buy that one. me & the wifey luv movies like that.

Yes, Polar Express is a good story, and the movie is incredibly well done. Animation is top-notch. This was our first Christmas with all kids knowing about Santa, but it didn't diminish our enjoyment... just a little different. We still did the Santa gift, and the stockings being stuffed after they were in bed. I still enjoy all of the Santa stuff, and I love Miracle on 34th Street. Santa is definitely in my heart.

TimmJ my fellow Hoosier,
Thanks for stirring up some of my Christmas memories. Your nephew's Christmas experience reminds me of my son's Santa "debacle" several years ago. This year he was Santa's little helper and did everything to make his two year old brother's Christmas a magical and memorable one.

Merry christmas, krazy kwanzy , happy hookanah alright now that THATS outta the way .... does ANYBODY remember what REALLY happens when you "quit believing" in SANTA ? YA piss "him" off big time and from THEN on , ALL your presents turn to clothes and UNDERWEAR !!! think about it ? and then when ya get a LIL older at least some turn into TOOLS (but that just means work !) so if you DO know /think theres NO SANTA ... keep it to yourself ! OR YOU'LL BE SORRY

when i lived in the artic circle there was a fella in town who went by the name "Santa Claus" now this man was the exact physical look of santa although his beard was more gray than white, but he had the pudgey belly, and was always laughing. His wife looked like one would picture Mrs. Claus. and personally they were the sweetest people ever, always having people over to there house always giving, and so friendly. Now something strange about this couple, that arrived in town in Late April - Late May and would stay until December 23. Always saying that had stops to make and things to take care of.'
Things about this guy that were amazing... when he heard your name he never forgot. this guy was Santa and i do not doubt it.... it's just illegal for santa to break into our houses even if it is to leave presents.
