Headblade?

Hey bros its been a while since I been on here, but Im still sly!!

I have been shaving with a Mach III and decided to try the Headblade out. I went to Sallys Beauty supply and bought a HB Sport.

This thing looks really sweet. I shaved for the first time with it tonight and cut myself at least 8 times on my head. One cut is very big. The shave was smooth as a cue ball. Much closer than the Mach III. But the cuts are brutal! I was so careful and steady when I was doing in too. No pressure and long strokes.

I dont want to give up on HB yet, but I defiantly dont want to walk around with crazy nicks on my head. Have yall had the same experience with the HB for the first time? Does it get better?

Hey Sarge, do you have the doubles or the triples on the HB?  If you have the doubles, you may want to go get some trips or Sensor Excel blades as they tend to be easier to begin using the HB with.

I tore myself up the first time.  But it's gotten progressively better.  I know headshave in the shower with no mirror.  I try to do it eyes closed for the complete sensory experience.  Anyway, other than minor ear touchups, I've got it down. 

Keep at it.  HB is a great product.

Sarge, I too severley cut up my head the first time I used the headblade too. I was ready to throw the thing into the the bin, but after about 4-5 shaves with it and getting used to applying no pressure and letting the HB do the work I was able to get a handle on it and eventually master it. I wouldnt advise you to give up yet.

The Numero Uno rule in shaving with the HB is to APPLY NO PRESSURE TO THE BLADE. Use your hand to push the device forward, the HB takes care of the rest.

Nick, it DOES get better.  I had exactly the same experience when first using the HeadBlade.  Tyler is right though, the trips are a lot less prone to nicks than the doubles, so give those a try and just keep with it.

thats good to hear about the trips.  I'm going to have to give them a try.  I tried the headblade a couple years ago and the shave was great but I used to get a cut almost every time I used it.  I remember thinking at the time it was probably the blades and wishing they would come out with a triple blade.

I gave the Headblade another shot last weekend, but it wasn't close, and I went over w/ the Power Fusion and it found plenty as evidenced in the rinse water.  Just doesn't work for me.

I made the same experience. Starting with HB works better with trips, but the shave isn't as smooth as with doubs. But when I have learned how to use the HB I changed to doubs.
Some baby- or massage oil first, then Headslick and no pressure at all and no hurrying: there will be (nearly) no more cuts.

Hey Nick...I'm a headblader all the way!  My experience was similar to yours.  You'll get better with practice.
Slather on some baby oil first (in the shower), let it sit for a minute, put on the headslick and GO SLOW!
I'm using the doubles now and the shaves are super close.

hey bro...lot of great advice here..just like to add that it helps to focus on the rear wheels, just concentrate on keeping them in contact w/ ur head and let the hb do the rest

From what I hear, It does get better and easier with practice.  I could just never keep with it long enough to get over the hump.  Right now I'm happy with my Quattro and have no incentive to change.  It doesn't matter "HOW" you get there, just matters that you "DO" get there.

Ok Upon you guys advice I went and bought a Triple kit from Wal Greens. I also bought a Styptic pencil there just in case. I bought a few other shaving related items that I plan to review once I see how they work. One is a Tea Tree oil bump fight and complexion lotion and the other is High Time Bump fighter medicated Shave gel.

I installed the Triple kit and boy it was sweet! So much smoother glide than the doubles. But you guys are right it does not get as close as the dubs. But I am happy with the fact that I did not get butchered. Yea!

I've using headblade for a while and i love it. but the other day i bought the atra 2 blades to save money. big mistake, the double blades don't cut as close as the triple blades from headblade.
next time i will pay the extra money and get the blades that go with it.

I bought the HB, but found that it didn't get near as close of a shave as my Mach3 so I don't really use it anymore. Pretty disappointing considering all the hype that surrounded it.

HB with Sensor Excel blades is the way to go. I never cut myself (unless I'm in a hurry and do something stupid) and I get the smoothest dome ever. Give that a shot.
