Best way to avoid razor clogging ?

OK, I am writing this after I crashed at my brother's place last night. It had been a while since I shaved with something other than HeadSlick and wanted other SBG's take on it. This morning, I took a trip down memory lane and used his Edge Gel for the first time in, I don't know, forever, and got an extremely close shave to both the noggin' and the face. The best part....no razor clogging and still got a quality shave! My points of this post:

1. I love the shave HeadSlick gives you, but hate the fact it really clogs up the razor.
2. Shower shaving helps reduce the amount of clogging but uses much more water (for single guys or married guys with no kids, this isn't such a big deal).
3. Sink shaving saves water, but isn't as good at reducing razor clogging.
4. When I've been at home, I've recently began adding a touch of Barbasol Shave Cream (after applying HeadSlick) to my dome and face, which has helped reduce the clogging (but not eliminate it).

What's a Sly Bald Guy to do? 
Ideally, I'd like to reduce the number of products I use so that I have one shave cream/gel for the dome & face (sorry, hate oils), and one after shave (totally sold on the L'Oreal Comfort Max After Shave Balm w/SPF15). I think after I use up my HeadSlick and HeadLube, I may be done with HeadBlade's products (other than the razor, of course).

So, what's your guys take on the best combo of reducing clogging, saving water, shave quality, and reducing the # of products ?

When it comes to my face shave I use shaving brush / soap and just started with the double edge saftey razor. This is a no clog system (even with the fusion razor) it rinses clean and provides me with a better shave than gels.

With the dome, the headblade and headslick are a great combo but I agree with the clogging. I am a shower shaver so it isn't as big of a problem. I have found however that a little bit of headslick goes a long way, so maybe try a smaller amount to make a thin coat instead of a hearty lather.

I'm a "sinker & slicker" but I've never had any clogging w/ my Power Fusion.  I use about 1/2 teaspoon on a scalp & face first wetted down w/ Cuticura soap and hot water after the shower.  I also dip a hand in the hot water once or twice while I'm working up the lather on my dome and face for about one minute, it becomes a very slippery act but not thick enough to clog the razor even in the shadow area w/ the extra hair.  Suggest a soapy wet scalp and face & using a little added water while lathering and maybe less Headslick.  Right now, it's seven hours since shaving and no hint of stubble even on top where it's a thin crop.

I am normally a one product guy! Using Gillette Gel or something comparable that's on
sale at Walmart! But I am using Headslick (it was on sale) its does clog more than the gel does!

Shave brush will turn that smaller amount into a hearty lather no problem! Hand lathering just doesen't work efficiently.

Schro,  I can tell you that I have tried a lot of shaving products out there. I used to think between Headslcik and the KOS products that I tried they provided the closest shave out of any available products.  To make a long story short I had to go out of town last month and forgot to pack my normal gear. I bought a can of Edge Advanced Shaving gel with Aloe (the one with the orange lid). I noticed a couple of things. I got a really close shave and also noticed my stubble does not grow back as nearly as quick when I use the edge gel for some reason.  When I used the other shaving products my stubble would be back mid afternoon. Since I have been using the Edge Gel I don't feel the stubble until really late in the evening and I have had more inquiries from people inquiring what I use to shave. 

I am sticking with the Edge Gel for both my head and face.  I am a sink shaver and I use a mug and dip my razor while shaving and I use an old children's toothbrush to clean out the hair residue from the blade. This has extended my blade life as well.

I use the KOS products and they are great for no clogging. I am inclined to try the edge gels if it might give me some more time during the day from the velcro.

Nomad-It may be worth a try the price is right. You can get a can of Edge for about $2.77. For the first couple of days I thought it was just because I switched products but for me It has been over a few weeks now and I still don't feel my velcro coming on until the evening hours and I still have been using my same shave routine.

I found the same thing with KOS, Ty. Goes to show ya....different strokes for different folks.

Ty in past posts you have said that you didn't care for the KoS products and it always made me wonder why but now I know. That was the first thing that I noticed when I tried them, was the no clog deal. I use the oil first then the gel but not a whole lot of it, maybe a dallop about the size of a nickel seems to work.

it is alot more expensive than the edge gel, but I'm not sure if the edge will really give me more time velcro free. My hair grows SO fast. It really sucks.
