21...balding, and i have eczema

Basically...for the past year or so i've been loosing hair. I got really thinning hair on top, and everytime i wash my hair, hair comes out...not like the usual...many...way to much. I've tried all that regrow shampoo crab and herbal stuff...i just said...screw it...it will happen..
I got long hair now...but i gotta get it cut anyway...and was thinkin about just shaving it. one theme stops me... ECZEMA. i have very dry skin, and my scalp is very dry. So dry that even if i comb my hair, skin starts to flake and i look like i have dandruff. even if i scratch my head a little. It's very bad, and is what probably is causing my hair to fall out. I'm actually going to a dermatologist on Thursday.
With the hair...the flakes...its embarrassing obviously.
Well if i shaved my head...how would my dome look? would it be all scaled like a snake? or what? i really dont know...and if i take the chance...well...and it looks bad...it will take awhile for the hair to grow... any advice, suggestions would be great, Thanks

Heres a pic with my hair as of Halloween...yes i was a pirate lol, and one from a few weeks before that:

Sorry to hear that, dude. I doubt it's eczema that's making your hair fall out, try genes

. I got bad skin aswell, both facial and scalp skin. It's seborrheic dermatitis or something, oily skin with patches of dead skin cells forming. When I got my hair buzzed to #1 my barber told me I got some white stuff all over my head so I guess it could be noticeable in the strong light in your case aswell.
BTW: Your head shape looks ideal for shaving, at least on the profile view.
PS: I don't want to advertise or anything (mods remove this post if you feel like it's inappropriate): if you want to try and save your hair instead of shaving and accepting your balding, check out
www.hairlosstalk.com/interact. There are some meds for hairloss today, but they are far from efficient and don't help many of us balding young men.

Hey peefyloo, first off welcome.
I know where you're coming from on the scalp flaking thing. I suffered from a similar condition for almost all my life. Like you, I came onto this website before I actually shaved my dome with a lot of questions. Well, since shaving my head, my scalp has been completely itch free!!!!

I think that shaving your head is like exfolliating your scalp, getting rid of the dry, loose skin. Although I could get by with shaving it every other day, I try and shave it daily just for the health of my scalp.
One thing you'll have to do is apply an aftershave lotion. There are many out there. My two personal favorites are the L'Oreal Comfort Max After Shave Balm (with SPF 15) and HeadBlade's HeadLube (Matte Finish).
Shaving your head is more work than having hair, but the relief you'll experience is well worth it.
PM me if you have any questions.
Good Luck,
Schro

Yeah, scalp conditions are tougher in colder drier air. Good luck with it and I can't recommend shaving the dome enough.

Perfect!
Seems most bands these days have long hair dudes and one slick bald dude for balance...
dude you can be the "balance"!
I've written this before, but seems if a guy had long hair and decides to get a "haircut" the only one that gives him the "edge" he had with long hair is shaving it completely bald!
Weird how that works, I guess, both are just a bit "edgy" for most folks!
You'll dig the bald head brutha!

Welcome!
I had a bit of a dandruff issue before going sly. I haven't had any issues with it since going sly.

I personally had some pretty nasty dandruff before taking the SLYway. Not a hint of it now. Just shave it.

peefyloo you will find that after you start shaving yoru head...your scalp conditions will improve. It is simply shaving your head and your scalp gets a more thorough cleaning. I use a clear aloe vera gel on my head after i shave and ya know...as soon as I am done shaving my head feels really dry and flakey..but after i put just a small amount of gel on it...it last all day long. Go for it bro...I think you would look cool. Post a new pic of the sly dome!

Peefyloo, like Warhawk said, I'd go see a dermatologist if you haven't already. He/She could provide you with an exact answer on your scalp condition.
Be careful looking at any drugs that help with hair loss. They may prevent you from losing your hair in the short term, but they have some very nasty side effects like depression and impotence.
Welcome to Sly Bald Guys!

Welcome Peefyloo!!! I can't offer any words of wisdom on your ECZEMA, but the other guys have said it well. We have several SLY band members (Vash...). Go with the shave and see how it goes.

Peefyloo im 21 as well and I shave my head. I also had patches of dry itchy skin all over my head, but after I shaved my head I washed them off and they haven't returned since. The itching has also gone.
