I wasn't certain where the author was going until the last few sentences. I think it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek satire, although the world that existed during the times of Sesame Street (friendly neighbors, going with Gordon for milk & cookies) no longer exist.

I think this is actually legit. My wife was telling me about it. One of the reasons "they" say that it isn't appropriate in today's world because there are some situations were kids go off with strangers. In today's world I can see that point.

I do think some of the other stuff, like its bad that Oscar is a grouch and Snuffy is imaginary are pure CRAP!
Life has three aspects: Paradox, Humor, and Change.

Paradox: Life is a mystery; don't waste time figuring it out.
Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure
Change: Know that nothing stays the same.

Wow, how I lived through being "exposed" to sesame street and not wondered off with a stranger is amazing... Oh yeah... I had PARENTS! That taught me right from wrong and what not to do. I do understand these were filmed in a different era but c'mon, it seems a bit ridiculous.

I dunno, I guess I am getting sick of the litmus test for almost every things existence being worst case scenario.

Dont let you kids watch Sesame Street: Old School but Ridlin... step right up!

Gotta agree with you Marz.  We knew that TV was not reality but, instead, fun.  They'll be doing the same to MisterRogers next.  A softspoken man who lives by himself, has imaginary friends in "Make Believe" and wants kids to be his "neighbor".... what will they make of that ?

While not really a matter of PC, what I just viewed on a local newscast certainly qualifies as nonsense in my opnion.  Seems that a developer just built a subdivision bordering a local operating dairy farm.  The farmers family has lived on this land for nearly a century.  The purchasers of the homes are up in arms about the smell that naturally occurs from such a farm and are demanding that the farmer do something about it and even threatening court action.  They are making the life of the farmer and his family a nightmare.   Now barring the fact that some idiot purchased their home on line, sight unseen, homeowners had to be very aware of what they would be living near and all that it entails.   I just can not get over the outright selfish and petulant attitude of people who feel that they are required to have all things their way. What ever happened to common sense in this country?

I don't know Paul, but if you can find it, you'd make a ton of $ selling it to the general population and the mainstream media.

As my boss always says, "Common sense, just isn't that common".

The same thing happened to a development in CA when I lived there but it was next to an airport. The folks that bought houses were complaining left and right about airplane noise.... WTF people, you are the ones that bought the house next to the airport, did you think they were going to close it down once you moved in?

Sounds like you're talking about the townhomes in the San Leandro Marina near the Oakland Airport, Marz.
One of my all time favorite stories that fits this topic is the residents near the "Central Freeway" in San Francisco that lobbied incessantly against it being rebuilt after it was damaged the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Last time I checked, this freeway was standing long before most of the residents took occupancy of their homes.

LOL!  That's like the people in my neighborhood.  We are in the flight path for the almost closed Air Force base.  We get 1 at most 2 planes a day that fly over, so it's not like a regular airport.  People still complain that the planes fly over!  Ridiculous!
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

The insanity is not just limited to the USA.  Look at some of the creative reasons people in th UK have come up with to get out of working.  And at the other end of the spectrum is the story of a 101-year-old man who went an amazing 90 years without ever taking a off work for illness:
