For those who love kids: I managed to get a children's short story published and it's just in time for Christmas, and appropriately so. Title "Christmas on the Plains" can be purchased at
www.tatepublishing.com. Suited for 2-10, but enjoyable for all. It will make a great gift and promote reading relative to the joys of Christmas. Cost is low @ $6.99 + shipping.
No Spamming intended here. Tyler gave his blessings to letting the sly know about this. Being a new father himself and sure to be looking forward to reading to his new little one.
Thanks for the consideration,
RustyRuss

Life's been hectic in the Big D area here of late. Hunting season has my mind wanderin to the near future. Remodeling a small house has put me back into the old construction mode, and not real use to it. Hands are developing calices (sp), which I actually feel better at home with than soft skin on me anyway. My dad always said I had thick skin, and looked like a knuckle head. I know now he had a pretty good picture of me. Been doing a lot of, unfortunately, foreclosure appraisal work here of late, and most of those are veterans who've lost jobs, and various other problems resulting from post traumatic syndrome. My heart goes out to the thousands who have or are about to face foreclosure. I've been a VA appraiser for some time, and someone is going to do the work, and I'm sympathetic, but realistic and see many who've been taken advantage of. Doing other foreclosure work as well, but mostly VA and FHA. Hope all here are secure in their finances and life situations.

Russ, great to hear that you successfully passed the many hurdles and got your book published. Glad you had something upbeat to counter what has to be a depressing job at times.

"Don't be a stranger", somewhat of a double meaning there! My wife tells me I get stranger every day. Maybe she's right, just maybe. I'm still a kid at heart in many respects enjoy life every day. I sense the same attitude among a lot of the great guys here @ SBG.
I'm continuing work on the "little diddy / (c)rap" I started a while back. How about this: Give me a head that's Bare - I don't want long hair
Keeps growing, needs mowing, blowing everywhere
Yeah, give me a head that's bare - Shinning everywhere
Glowing, Gleaming, Blinding with each stare!
This to the chorus from the musical hair.
Add this in one of the verses: I ain't got no grill or fancy rings,
No long gold chains with golden ding-a-lings
What I got don't cost a thing,
My shining head is a natural Bling!
You guys take care,
RR

Receeding hair, I remember the stares
Wore hats to work, I looked like a jerk
Found Sly Bald Guys, they opened my eyes
Hats are gone, there all in the past,
those who don't like it can kiss my ass!

Just wanted to chime in

Chime in anytime champ007. Maybe we can get a routine going. Think we can do waaaaay better than "Bald Like Me". Although a few of the verses are pretty catchy, I don't exactly consider that to be the image I want to be portrayed as with fellow baldies. Wrote a song to my wife that I'm getting copyrighted titled " I've lost all my hair over you". A little bit of the chorus:
Honey, I've lost all my hair over you,
There's nothing left to run your fingers through,
But all day long, I sing this song,
Our love's still GROWING ever strong,
Though I lost all my hair over you.
My nephew, sings in a band & plays lead guitar. Put this to somewhat of a Johnny Cash tune. I'm not the greatest of singers, but our little recording sounded OK!
Let you know when we go platinum, Ha Ha!

My pleasure Champ007. Been a while since I've been back in to check what's up with all the brilliant & shining guys/gals here at SBG. Been chimin' rymin' for some time. Mostly poetic, and mostly personal, but have had a few small things published. Check out
www.poetry.com and look up a poem titled "Compelling Greed". My first publication several years ago and it only cost me $40.00. Things have changed considerably since then. But, I'm still pluggin and plowin, tryin to keep the rows straight. Sowen a few seeds along the way and feelin' the sunshine much easier these days.
