Welcome birdie! You didn't mention if you shaved with the grain at all. I always shave with the grain with my Headblade first; then when I go against the grain, it seems to be a much more comfortable shave... not so if I went against the grain first. If you haven't tried this, give it a shot to see if it helps. Your speed will definitely pick up as you get used to shaving, so I wouldn't be concerned with the time factor at this point... glad that you're hooked. It's something those 'hairy' folks just don't understand.

Yes, I do shave with the grain first then against it for a closer shave. Am getting more comfortable using the HB Sport & finishing w/a Mach 3 around the ears. Just tried Edge Active Care Shave Cream which is non-lathering. Needed to find something without menthol/lather in it to prevent irritating my eyes. So far, the Edge cream has given me the closest shave yet without any irritation to the eyes... and no nicks/cuts either!
Looking forward to my shave tomorrow!
Welcome to the SBG site, birdie. Glad to have you here, and good to have another Headblade user. Definitely stick with it, and you will find it only gets easier for you.
Like the other bro's have said, experiment with other blade/gel/oil combo's until you hit on something that works best for you.
I currently have been using the HB triple blades, which at first I was not fond of, but it's odd and some guys have also said this; the blades actually get better as you use them, or they seem too, lol.
I also am a big fan of the Atra and Sensor doubles.
Good luck with your shaving, and remember to keep pressure on the rear(wheels) of your Sport.
Let us know how things go for you.
Joe
Welcome to SBGs, birdiehunter!!!

Great site for advice, as you can see...never had any issues going against the grain myself since my hair is so thin.
welcome to the forum, bro.
Welcome to the group pardner.
Welcome to SBG Birdiehunter.
Like the guys have said just experiment and find what suits you best. Might try to exfoliate also, can't say enough good things about St Ives apricot scrub!
