This is the year to have Thanksgiving with my family.  However, my mother had knee replacement surgery earlier in the year and really doesn't feel like cooking for 30 people like she usually does.  She has suggested going to a restaurant.  We've invited everyone here, but nobody wants to drive 3 hours like we always have to.  So it's kinda up in the air right now.

Did you ever consider ordering a Thanksgiving meal from one of those places that deliver them to your home?  You could have one delivered to your mom's place and everyone can meet there as usual, but she wouldn't have to cook.

My in-laws are in from NY, and we will be having it at our apartment. They would have it at their house when we were back east, so it's going to be different, but I am really looking forward to being with everyone. My sister and brother in-law, niece and nephew will be coming too. We would usually have about 25 people with the whole family there, but here it will only be 9 of us, so it will be more cozy.
Unfortunately I do have to work that day, but I don't have to be in until 2, so at least I'll have some time to enjoy the food and family.

This year Thanksgiving is very up in the air. Our daughter and her husband rotate holidays and this year is at his family's place out of town.

We have always had dinner at our house for several years as we always had the room. My mom went into a nursing home this summer; we were hoping to be able to get her back into her house once more for the holiday. But this week she had to go to the hospital, with pneumonia. We don't think she will be with us very long. Dad died a year ago. (No sympathy needed, they were married 65 years and led good long lives).

Change of plans now; our daughter and son-in-law are coming home for Thanksgiving since his sister changed her plans and can't get to their folks place till Christmas. Meaning we won't see our daughter on Christmas. It gets confusing when you get married, live away from home and try to coordinate holidays between families.

My mom is still with us. She is back in the nursing home, under hospice care there. They have taken her off almost all of her medication (part of the living will). We visited yesterday and she is getting weaker. Each time I see her, I realize it may very well be the last time. Thanksgiving is at our house. My sisters will visit mom before coming over. I live a hour away from everyone else. My wife's mother and brother will be over as well.

Nice!
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.
