Baldness is bliss
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:00:10 AM »
Greeting everyone!

I'm a relative newbie to the boards and to baldness. I originally got my locks shorn in a charity drive for children's cancer research.

That was June 2007, and since then, I've kept with the chrome dome. I have only used clippers thus far, so I'm not a genuine bald guy. This is mostly due to my tendency to knick various parts of my face while shaving with a blade, which has, in turn, caused me pause in applying a blade to my head.

But I'm hoping to pick up enough tips and tricks to go the full monty soon enough.

Welcome!

I would suggest forking out the $15 bucks for a Headblade. Definitely an easier way to shave your head, and far less time consuming than a regular razor in my opinion.

Welcome Dom.  Believe it or not, I find it easier to shave the head because the skin is tighter and the surface harder than the face.  However you sport it, I'm glad you're liking the look.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Welcome to Sly Bald Guys!  That's a very noble way to having a slick head.  Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Welcome domenickb, cool name  O0
The first shave was scary as hell for me, but I came out with no nicks and couldn't wait to do it again.
Embrace the numbness of the first shave. The guys here gave me great advice, which started me with a headblade. It was the best purchase I made in years!
Post some questions you have and be sure to check the shaving routine forum. Lots of good info.

Hey dominickb, Welcome to sly guy site!, glad you decided to join us.
Like the guys have said, check out the headshaving section for tips.

Definitely pick up a HeadBlade asap!, that was what I first went with and haven't looked back since. It really works well, and does the job as intended. Try the Headslick shave cream as well.
Take your time and follow any directions given on the package.
Sly guy advice: (No pressure on blade, keep it toward the rear, and long smooth strokes).
Before long, you'll be saying "why didn't I do this sooner", I guarantee it.
