I recall going to my grandmother's house when I was a kid and she would always have homemade popcorn balls to hand out. Couldn't do that today.

Rum Balls.

We had a fun neighborhood.
In all seriousness, I'd have to go with mini Snickers.

It's be a tie between mini KitKats and Twix. I still make sure to buy those for Halloween so I can enjoy the leftovers.

OMG where is everyones head at....the all time are the miniature Reese Cups!
Its sad to think how Halloween has changed over the years. Its now what limited to 2 hours on the night of Halloween. Man, I can remember we would start trick or treating like 3 nights before Halloween and we would sack loads and loads of candy. Im not talking about those small plastic grocery bags we have today, Im talkin about the large paper sacks with the handle on em. We would go all over town hit different neighborhoods each night. We use to get popcorn balls, apples, homemade brownies, candy apples and cookies. Cant do that anymore unless you really know the person. Just hate it that our kids today....dont ever get to experience the stuff we did as a kid. And we wonder why kids today do not know how to be kids.

what were those called? Dots? i remember them....Fun Dip was always good too. And I always thought it was cool to get a Ring Pop....walk around with this big jewel of candy on my finger!......silence....silence....

Remember the wax bottles and lips....the bottles would have flavored sugar water in them. And the wax lips..what was the purpose?? I could never bring myself to eat the wax.....knowing me I would get constipated.

I agree with TimmJ, Halloween used to be an all out event when I was a kid.
We would start at like 5:00-6:00 and Trick Or Treat as much of the town as possible. Houses that didn't answer would get the T.P. treatment or some other "trick". We would meet up with other groups of kids and compare our hauls and swap tips "The lady over on 5th is giving out full size snickers" etc. this would go on untill like 9:00 or later... People used to totally deck out their houses like mini-haunted houses and stuff... man it used to be such a cool day as a kid, now... like everything else... it has a soft, non toxic, padded cover on it so no one gets hurt...
My favorite was Tootsie Rolls (Right on JDog). Reeses PB Cups are my favorite candy to this day, I have a bag of the mini banana cream Elvis edition ones in my freezer right now... they are on lock down due to my current diet.

Have you ever taken the candy corn and mix it with salted peanuts in a bowl? If you like paydays...eating them this way has a big resemblence of a payday...toss in some carmel pieces if you wish. I have often thought about melting down some caramel and then coatin it with peanuts and candy corn...hmmmmmmmm think i will just do it this evening.

I always looked forward to Nerds or Snickers.
Like Tim and Marz, my friends and I used to scour our neighborhood and then venture in to adjacent neighborhoods to "raid" them of their candy. We used to also meet up with other groups and discuss where the best places were. We'd even carry two masks so that we could hit a good house the second time. Then, there was the annual egg fight that usually took place once the candy getting was over. Ah, the memories...

Every year one of my elderly aunts. Margaret, made Toll House cookies. Imagine how popular her house was! Tyler would have needed many mask!!!
Some years afterwards, and just prior to her death at 96, I asked for the recipe. She kept thinking and thinking (and by this time, she was into Alzheimer's) ... finally she said, "I can't remember it ... but it's on the back of the Toll House bag".
