Tis The Season .... Be Prepared To Be Touched

Well, fellas', the Holiday Season is upon us.  My wife and I are not real party people or big drinkers but out of obligation to a couple of organizations we support,  close relationships with some friends who live for seasonal parties, and of course our office get together, over the next month and half we will be attending such gatherings.  Because I live in a fairly small town and am active in a variety of things, am an oddball of sorts because I am nationally competitive skateboarder, and have this particular look, it seems alot of people know me here.   It never fails that some time during each holiday party someone will invariably either ask to touch my shaved head or just do it!  It cracks me up how many times it can happen in one night.  Most often it is a female (which doesn't bother me a bit and fortunately my wife is not the jealous type) but it is sometimes men.....and alot of times its men who probably should be shaving their head but have not got the courage up to do so. 

For this season I am going to actually keep up with the number of times it happens from here to after New Years ( the night the overwhelming number of "hits" (I call it) happen..something about a Happy New Year's Eve party open bar and head touching!! ha ha).  I will update the number of "hits" on this forum after each get together.  I will also include "hits" that don't happen during a party.

Have you guys noticed this happening or do I have a sign around my neck that says "Go ahead touch it!"?

Parties/Events Attended:

11/ 18 Manly Mens Monthy Annual Thanksgiving Bonfire:  2 Hits Female      1 Hit Male
Note: Indoor/Outdoor party at the lake that features a bonfire so big I suspect the astronauts on the Space Station can see it.  The Manly Men's Monthly is a group of guys locally in Statesville who get together once a month (duh), to share a meal and a beer or 12 but also do a service project for the community once a year and also hosts two fund raiser parties annually for the Battered Women's Shelter.   This year's service project was to remodel the interior of an old strip shopping center bank for a conversion into a new Police Substation in an area that needs a great deal of urban renewal.  This party invites the wives, girlfriends, and supporters of the group and also new prospective "members" for the following year.

I have some chicks come up and just start to touch or rub my head, but usually it is the “Well, can I… touch it?” or “Is’t really as smooth as it looks?”  I have not had too many people just start touching my head, and don’t think I have any guys touch it other then the obvious mma or slap to the head type messing around.

I find that people will now touch my head instead of my shoulders when their passing by and I'm sitting down.  This is usually in groups where I know the people like at church functions or family/friend parties.  We had my niece's 1st birthday today and I noticed that when people came up behind me they would palm my head or rub it versus tap me on the shoulder; even guys would do this.  Even a couple of high school girls that were dancing hula for the show couldn't resist the urge to rub it on the way by.

I have had both experiences, people asking and then some people just reaching out and rubbing my head. I think it is funny when people try it at night after a little bit of stubble has grown back and they react with a," Whoa! Velcro!" Of course that's when some people reach up at my head pull some of my cat's hair out of my head.

1 addition two nights ago at a local Christmas Tree lighting at the Civic Center.....A rather large African American lady comes up and says:
"I sure do like a whiteman with a shaved head!"  I gave the woman a big hug!  It was great!!!   A couple of people who know me (my town is small) just stared in disbelief!

Oh man!  Forgot to update it.

The final score blew UP on New Year's Eve!!!  I volunteered as a bartender at the local New Year's Eve Celebration and well, there were some touchy feely people at that party...Its a small town..they don't get out much.

By the way, this event was at the same Civic Center complex as the tree lighithing.
