Claim to Fame / Rubbin' Shoulders
« on: November 14, 2006, 07:27:32 PM »
Ok, I'll be bold to start a topic.  How'bout sharing with the forum encounters or relationships with famous people....or better yet...PICTURES (genuine only)

I've shared with the forum in Hobbies / Sports that I was in the 80's Hollywood big hair scene and hung out with a lot of famous rockers which was WAY COOL.

But a couple others:  Kirstie Alley was a very close family friend when she first moved here from Witchita, Kansas in the 70's when I was a teenager and she was in her twenties.  She was an interior decorator, married to a veteranarian.  It was an amazing thing to watch her become famous.

That relationship has afforded a lot of encounters.  One special one was that Kirstie's friend, Mimi Rogers was married to Tom Cruise around '86 and they both came to my parent's house for a visit, and Tom Cruise fogot his wallet, leaving it on our couch.  Discovered--by pulling out his drivers license--that his real name is Tom Cruise Mapother.

Back in the 80's I was at an Aerosmith concert in the restroom taking a leak, and at the next wall urinal next to me was Michael J. Fox.  We engaged in a little small talk before givin' it the shake and zip up.

I understand that some of you may be entertainers and in the midst of famous folks all the time....but us average joes would like to hear stuff.

Oh...by the way....this is me with Mother Theresa (honest to God genuine) back in '96 when I was on a missions trip to Calcutta, India.  That's me right next to her, touching her blessed shoulder.

I'll share some of my experiences with you guys.  I've met quite a few celebrities, so I'm only going to share a few - otherwise I'd be here all night.

To start off with a bald celeb, I was at the opening of Larry Flint's Hustler Club in SF and went to the bathroom only to end up at one urinal over from Moby.  I was shocked to see him, mostly because I thought he was gay, but I quickly realized I was mistaken when he went back to his area with 4 beautiful women and himself.

I once got kicked out of a strip club in Vegas for getting in a fight with Dennis Rodman.  It's a long story that I will have to tell you guys sometime when we're all hanging and having a beer together.

That's the end of my Celebrities and Strip Club meetings.  Now for my college experiences.  I went to Pepperdine University, so being that it's in Malibu, CA, I saw quite a few.

One of my best friends that I met in college and lived with for two years is Pat Boone's grandson, so I've met Pat several times.  Ryan (his grandson) has become somewhat known for surviving a terrible accident.  You can learn more about him at http://www.ryansreach.com.

I once hung out with 311 and Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20.  I've had drinks with Jaleel White (Urkel), John Cusak and Patrick Muldoon.  I ran into Dennis Miller leaving the W hotel in NYC.  I sat next to Steve Guttenberg at a graduation.

I've spoken with Pamela Anderson, Meg Ryan, Gina Lee Nolan, and hit on Katie Holmes while Christmas shopping in the Beverly Center.  I met Mario Lopez the same day I met Gina Lee (we were all at a volleyball tournament for models).

I've met several Major League Baseball players, such as Robin Yount and Gary Sheffield.  I've met Jerry Rice, Ronnie Lott and Jason Sehorn (my mom helped him get into USC).  I played in a pick up basketball game with Mike Bibby and 8 other pros.

I've exchanged a couple personal messages with Noner.

Way cool, Tyler....that's what I'm talkin' about.  I hope you bested Rodman.

'nother one....Wilt Chamberlin, hall o famer center for the Lakers back in the early seventies....me and my girl friend were at a comedy club in Hollywood and he starts hitting on her.  Well, she played it real cool and somehow got both her and I to join Wilt and his "entourage" in a private and body-guarded booth for drinks into the wee hours.

Not to sharp shoot you, but I don’t think that qualifies as “rubbin’ shoulders”
My sister had a role in Tank Girl with Lori Petty, and I had the opportunity to meet Lori briefly at a post production gathering.
My wife knows Billy Goldberg’s brother(?), so I met him.
I had a few meetings with former Senator McCain
Pretty lame I know.

Oh yeah, there is Mayor Ray Nagin, but I don’t hold him in high regard

Yeah, your right, it was less rubbin' shoulders and more of his entourage tackling me...but I did "meet" him.

I also had Mike Ditka buy my friend and I a beer at the Plaza Hotel in NY.

I guess I should have started with I don't like Rodman, either, and it would have been awesome if you actually had time to whip his punk ass.

I was watching a show on how celebrities got their start and from that show it dawned on me that in 1986 I was more popular and made more money than Brad Pitt.

In '86 my heavy metal band had a record contract and was selling out venues all over the place in the L.A. area....had the cream of the crop as far as chicks.   And Brad Pitt was in a Chicken Suit, standing out in front of El Pollo Loco making 3.35 an hour.

Can't understand what the hell happened  ???  Why did HE end up with Jennifer Anniston and Angelina Jolie  >:(
