I haven't followed the story in detail so I don't want to comment on the actual story itself bro. But I do agree with you on the point that if an officer places you under arrest and tells you to put your hands up, down, in your mouth, etc...JUST DO IT!!! If not for the sake of keeping you out of more trouble then at least do it so that no bodily harm comes to you. I'm not saying all cops are bad and abuse their power. But let's face it. Say one has a bad day. Him and his wife fought before his shift, maybe cheated on him, or even left him. He tells you to do something and you don't. That's resisting arrest. Here comes the night stick, taser, whatever to relieve a little of that "frustration." Again, I'm not picking at cops and saying they are all bad guys. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement for what they have to go through on a daily basis while they are getting paid peanuts. But there are some cases like I spoke of out there so why take the chance just to prove a point and show how big your pride is. Prove your point later when it's safe.
OK....here's another case where some "hubbub" could have arisen. There wasn't idiot public outcry over this one....but it does illustrate why people sometimes get TASED.
Some of you may have heard of the woman arrested at Phoenix Airport, who died in a holding cell after apparently trying to get out of her handcuffs.
Well here's another instance where officers would have been justified using extra "force." In this case they did not....beyond having to pin her to the floor rather forcefully. The enlarged print points out the exact stuff that moron on the university campus was doing.
'Airport witnesses told police Friday that Gotbaum was "very loud, she was yelling and screaming and running around the concourse area," said Hill. Police "could not calm her down" and "it was very difficult for them to get her handcuffed....she became extremely irate, apparently running up and down the gate area," airline spokesman Derek Hanna told the Daily News.....A police officer put his knee in Gotbaum's back to restrain her while other arresting police grabbed her flailing arms....She kept punching. She kept screaming. She kept kicking'
She should have been tased. She could have easily harmed others.
I feel bad for the cops in having to second-guess everything they do.
....cops...having to second-guess everything they do.
Exactly !It's tough enough to have to make those necessary split-second decisions, man.
A cop buddy of mine once wisely said,
"Everything after the arrest, the booking, the jailing, the trial, the judge, the jury, the media, the court system.....they all have plenty of time to weigh their decisions with regard to the perpetrator. On the street, we don't have the luxury of time to sit and carefully weigh all of the options. We're the ones that have to make split-second decisions in sometimes very volitile and dangerous situations."
