Bald Kiwi
« on: August 02, 2018, 08:01:37 PM »
Hi All,

I've been lurking among you all for a long time. Unseen, unnoticed, one more wonderful bald head among the many already here. It's been great reading this forum and I thought why not get involved? So here I am.

I'm a Kiwi living in Perth, Australia. I've been BBC for many years now...I think about 8.5 or so. My wife wasn't too happy when I first shaved it all off as it wasn't receding too much back then. I think she thought it'd be a passing phase. Sometimes she looks at me sadly and asks me to grow some back - kind of like a Jason Statham look. Nah, ain't gonna happen.

I shave almost every day as nothing, repeat nothing, beats that feeling of a completely smooth dome. Mach 3 was the weapon of choice for most of those years but I did go out and buy a DE razor about 9 months ago. WOW !B@. That gives the best head shave ever (but I might save that story for the DE section).

I'm passionate about astronomy (mainly outreach astronomy these days), flute playing (have a collection of about 7 including several world flutes), inline skating (endurance skating mainly, like to do >100km) and music.  Avatar pic is of me and my two sons on the night of their first ever concert. Roger Waters, Feb 2018. Boy did they have a great night. During Welcome To The Machine, Zayne turned to me and said "Dad? What's that smell?" Yep, someone behind us had sparked up a large one. He hated the smell so that is good.

I look forward to getting involved in your awesome forum. Nice to e-meet you all!!

Cheers,
Dan (Wiremu)

Welcome Dan, nice to have another BBC guy here. A shaved head looks great on you!

I think many of us agree, a totally smooth dome is a fantastic feeling. It's hard not to get hooked on it once you start shaving.

Cheers all for the nice welcome.

Yeah, I got taken hook, line and sinker. There's no going back now hahaha. My mum still ain't too happy about it but sometimes she tells me I look like her dad (when he was a lot younger) so that is good.

Yup, I think I'm hooked more on the feel of a smooth head, more than the look.

Parents seem to be the worst critics of a shaved head. When I was a long haired guy in the 70's, my dad was always bugging me to get a crewcut, which would have made me a freak! He passed when I was 21, so when I visit the cemetery, I ask him how he likes my haircut now. 😀

When I was about 12, right when the Beatles became popular, my mom took my brother and I to the barbershop for a haircut. My brother was first, and mom said their father want s them to have a buzzcut. When my brother was sheared, I ran out of the shop and refused to get it cut short. Well, of course the next day my dad took me back, and he must have told the barber to go extra short.

When my oldest son was about 4 he asked me to shave his head with my clippers.
My wife was out and I thought what could possibly go wrong :/O
Well, the poor kid looked terrible and I was in so much trouble. I'm now banned from all haircuts (would probably shave it bald) and the barber does all the work now.
