The flattop was ok, but shaved smooth looks awesome! I always think guys our age look younger with a clean shave.
How are you feeling about going bald again? Good luck with you surgery.

Well you see I do not think that guys my age, myself in particular, look better shaved. I think that I "look" better with some hair - and a flattop is certainly less common than a shaved head these days! I especially dislike the all of the pre-cancer spots on my scalp. they have multiplied like rabbits and I hope to get the laser doc to start burning them off of my head again this Fall.
And then today while I was waiting at the Naval Hospital Pharmacy I saw a guy my age with a fresh crisp flattop and I felt really bad.
But, while I think that I "look" better with the flattop I FEEL better with a shaved head. I feel CLEAN. I feel fresh. I love the feeling of the straight razor on my scalp. And I love being free of the OBSESSION of maintaining a perfect flattop!
Frankly, while I miss the flattop, I think that I look, (and I feel) pretty damn badass good looking with a BBC shave! I think it shows that I am confident in myself and don't need hair or clothes or cars, etc.

Shaved looks great . My opinion flat top looks old fashion , this from a flat top wearer from years ago. No hair left on top to be old fashioned.

I guess I agree, while I love the look of a flattop, I think it makes me look old. Last year I grew out my hair long enough to get my first barbershop haircut in 5 years. Got a high and tight flattop. When I got home I checked it out in the mirror a few times, and proceeded to clipper it off and razored bald.
Probably a result of growing up in the 60's and 70's. Long hair was the style, so the only guys keeping a short haircut were older men. I do think a sharp flattop looks great on today's younger guys.

I can’t say that I have seen any younger guys in my area with any flat tops . May just not have noticed. I gave myself flat tops at about 15 or 16 years old.

I wore a recon flat top for many years in garrison and would take it slick for the field. That first total razor head shave sealed it for me: I was a permanently bald man.
