ShySlyGuy, Unfortunatley mate from your experience this is exactly how I started smoking again each time I tried to quit. I officially tried to quit about 10-15 times and every time was because friends and people around me did it and I thought it easier just to cave in and in the back of my mind I thought"Oh Well, I made it 15 days, I can do it again if I want to"

You will quit only when YOU are ready. Not on account of anyone else.

Tim, you will be in my prayers bro.  Just remember the list of good points warhawk gave you and that it is all to better your health.  Stick with it man and hang in there.  Good luck.  The first few weeks are a bitch.  No lie.  But you can do it man.  Once it's behind you it will make you feel so much better.  Like the first time you gave yourself freedom by shaving the dome.  That's what it's kind of like.  A new freedom and a new lease on life.

Tim, my thoughts will be with you while you are quitting. It is one of the toughest things to do, but if you really hang in there and resist the temptation as best you can, you will get through it.
In my earlier post I likened it to when you first shave your head.

Now, you know the freedom you felt when you did this, if you can take some of that and try to apply it in this situation, I believe it can help you through.
You already know all the slyguys will be here for you, so just go from there. I'm sure you also have full support from your wife and children, too. The benefits you will get will be worth it ten times over. Use WarHawk's post as a guide; pin it up on your fridge if it'll help!.
Think of how much better you'll feel, and how much more energy you will have.
Anyway, good luck with it and I am here for you.

PS. new pic looks good and slick!, keep the goatee too.   O0

timmy....gr8 that u  have made it thru today without a smoke.   keep it going, buddy.  i know that u can do it.  also.... try 2 make a daily or weekly list of the $$$ that  u will  b    saving by NOT buying cigarettes.  i'm not a smoker but i've been told that cigarettes are expensive.

timmy....what's your plan 2 give up smoking.  it sounds like  u  r  just going cold turkey.  r  u  using the nicoderm patches that u can get over the counter.  or   r   u  taking any prescription medications such as chantix?  well...i guess this is day one as a non-smoker. O0

Tim remember that the first 3 days are the worst for cravings. After that it become easier every day.

If you are going cold turkey then awesome, but if you want a stop smoking aid I used a product called Nicabate CQ Lozenges. They are like a cough drop that you put between your gum and cheek and suck on.

They are good  because if you have a drink you can pop one in and it gives  you a nicotine hit. They helped me to quit successfully.

You strike me as a man who is very strong willed so I'd say you could do it on sheer willpower alone.

hey all thanks again for the comments and for giving me an avenue to soem assistance if I need it. I do have some nicotine gum on stand by.  I figured if i can make it at least 2 days with no help from the non smoking aids..that when or if I need them ..on the 3rd day or so it will ease alot of the pain. Yes I say PAIN because I feel like I am in alot of pain right now.  I cant seem to fall asleep right now adn here it is midnight and I have to get up early for work tomorrow.  I dont have any fingernails left as it is ...so im running out of options.  I am tryin my hardest to stay away from food, which is the easiest thing to fall on ....but if i do that....I will start to look like the good year blimp and even more realistically because if i get that bad...i will start to smoke again..and you all remember the lindenburg went up in smoke..right!  LOL
Well thanks for the support..it is greatly appreciated..more than you know.  Each little comment is giving me more and more will power to quit.  So keep em coming..and sorry if I sound greedy about it...but damnit ..im gonna be greedy...cause it is what I need right now. See ya in the other post...

Tim I'll be brutally honest.

You want to see your kids grow up.See them get married.Teach your son to drive(From your last post, you already have a little)Walk your daughter down the aisle.Celebrate your 40th wedding anniversary with your wife.

Well if you smoke, odds are you may not be able to do these things. 400,000 Americans die every year from smoking related illnesses. The leading cause of preventable death is Tobacco.

I hope for your sake and  your familys sake that you stay strong and keep going because you will live longer and enjoy life to the fullest without being a slave to the cigarette.

water helps timm. and is good for ya. that crystal light stuff is a good way to add flavor without all the sugar and carbs. i used a pencil to fidget with. kept my hands busy. just stay away from anything that has nicotene in it. kinda defeates the purpose. you can do this bro. when my boys told me they were proud of me for not smking, it helped tremendously. not letting the two most valuable people in my life down was huge for me.
