Hey guys, been lurking on the site for a couple of months now and finally worked up the courage to take the plunge. Just thought I'd chuck my 2 cents up on here, being a young 21 year old who's hairline started receding at 18, and progressed to noticeable baldness at 20. The general reaction I've noticed from a lot of younger guys seemed quite hesitant and sometimes disappointing, leading me to really question whether I should take the plunge or not. I'm posting this as some assurance for anybody like me, who may be lurking on forums, and worried about going for it.

So I've always been one of those young guys who's grown his hair out to a bit of length, reaching down to past my neck. Decided I was sick of hiding this sh*t under a cap and wasting money on toppik, and hit myself with a #1 with the clippers yesterday. First reaction? I love it. Instantly felt like a weight has been removed from my shoulders finally, and I love how it looks. One of the biggest fears seeing as I live on campus at my university with a couple of hundred other young students was what peoples reactions would be. They've been nothing but positive for me, with compliments, and even one dude with a full head of hair stating that he really wants to do the same, but doesn't have the courage. Of course I copped one or two bald jokes from mates, but its been the same ones giving a bit of sh*t about whats been under the cap anyway, no harm done haha.

I'll try to chuck up some photos if I get a chance tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to encourage anyone in a similar situation to me to just go for it. I've got confidence flying out my ass again finally ;)

Congratulations on taking control of your situation. I am glad you are happy with your decision.

Isn't it amazing how the anxiety goes away once you finally start that first shave?

Welcome! You made the right decision. Years down the road had you still had hair, you would've wished you had taken the plunge much sooner.

It is amazing how often the 'increased confidence' comment comes out after a man shaves.  Along with 'wish I had done this sooner'.

Hey man. I'm new here, too, on this forum. I was in college from 2003-2008, when nobody shaved their head. So I know what you're experiencing. I just shaved mine again and I'm getting tons of compliments from the ladies.

I also started losing my hair at 18, went through the same process of trying to hide it. Congrats on embracing the sly and welcome to the board.
