I will shave, rinse with cold water then sometimes use Clear Head. I will always use a moisturizer though. My scalp gets flaky and nasty if I don't.

My routine is ...jump in shower....wash body....run head under hot water for few mintues...lather up wiht HeadSlick....pull out the headblade sport....smooth the dome...turn hot water off...run head under cold water....rub icecubes over it...then apply aloe vera gel.  Thats it...no bumps..no flaking..no oily skin...gives it a nice shine!

slyinkc.... congrats on your 4th month of being sly.  i celebrated my 4th month anniv.  about 2 days ago.  i guess we  r the same age in sly years. :D   i agree with u on using less on the scrub.  i prolly use it 2-3 times a week & just go with the cold water splash & ice cubes.  however.... i'm gonna try out the witch hazel.  and give it a test run.  so far... i've been pretty lucky & haven't experienced any bumps.  i've done my research (thanks 2 this forum) b4 i did the deed.  again.... slyinkc.... congrats on the 4th anniv.  u rock the look. Scott, I like the new avatar.  Man, it looks like you have no hair to shave -- no shadow to be seen.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

Stew, thanks bro.  Actually I have quite a bit of shadow, it's just that was right after shaving and the lighting in the bathroom is awesome - that's my parents guest bathroom... wish my face/neck were more like that - I can shave at 630am and have a pronounced shadow by 1pm on my face/neck - I'm a hairy beast I guess?!

Shaving is an exfoliating process (removes dead skin cells, etc.) using exfoliating soap or scrubs irritates the fresh skin you have just cleaned up and any microscopic nicks etc. are irritated as well. Most contain pumice (lava rock sand like Lava soap) so imagine rubbing sand into a open wound...

What you head needs (like your face) after shaving is a light cream that will hold in the moisture and not dry it out and cause razor burn, bumps and irritation. There are alot of nice after shave gels out that work pretty well and there are after shave creams available too.

Even if you have normally oily skin, this will keep your head in good shape.

I use a pre shave oil (King of Shaves) then shave with a Gel, then a light coat of after shave cream or gel.

Sorry, I cant remember the brand of the cream I used to use but I am using a gel by Mary Kay right now that is pretty good. (My mother in law is a Mary Kay rep and they just came out with a mens line of stuff so I am the guinna pig).
