One Step Closer....
« on: March 21, 2016, 03:00:15 PM »
Hi folks.

It's been a while since I posted on this site. I've been meaning to, but always got caught up doing something else. Anyway, now I'm here and I wanted to show my "progress" to the people of this forum. I've been noticeably shedding for the past 7-8 months and started buzzing my hair down.

I started pretty high on a #5 and slowly but surely made it down to a #1.

Today was supposed to be the normal hair trimming day, but for some odd reason I didn't notice the #1 guard wasn't put on, so I started trimming with no guard on. My hair is now very short - about 1.8mm to be exact which is the shortest I've ever gone. This brings me relief, but it also increased my awareness of my odd and big-sized head. I know a lot of people who buzz or shave for the first time(s) think that their head is abnormal. I know I shouldn't be thinking like this, but I really can't help it. It's bothering me more than it should.

When that has been said, I do like the freedom of having almost no hair. It's easy to maintain and I do not have to worry about the shedding as I literally can't see the hairs falling off.

What I would ask of you kind folks on this forum, is to take a look at the pictures I have put in this thread. This was taken about 5 minutes after the buzz, so that is why I am not wearing any shirt (sorry about that). From what I can see myself, my head is quite big and so are my ears, furthermore it seems as if the back of my head is not in proportion with my face and that looks really odd.

Anyways, here are the pictures.

Please be honest.

I am very much looking forward to your feedback. Oh, and I want to thank you all for taking the time to reply to this thread. I really appreciate that.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day :-)

- Jonas

Welcome back, Jonas and thanks for checking in. I think that although not intentional, leaving the guard off was kind of an advantage to you. That looks about as close as you can go without a full blade shave, and it actually makes the light colored facial hair look even better. Give it a try for thirty days and see if you can get used to it.

Hey, Jonas.

This is a perfect example of the irony that goes on in these threads. You are worried about your head's shape, and it is the curve I wish my flat skull had. My opinion is that you have nothing about which to be concerned.

No Hair is best look !  Keep this !  Your head size/shape is great !
Comparing to your other pics with buzzed, hair, you look happier
with NO hair !  Now was this worrying about hair loss at age 19
really worth it?

Your head is not odd or too big.  You just need some time to adjust to seeing it without hair.

I buzzed with no guard for several months before breaking out the razor. When I shaved my head, nobody noticed.  With your light hair, in the photo, it looks like you did razor your head.  There will be no change in appearance between what you have now and shaving your head. The advantage of shaving your head will be a great smooth feeling.  That's my favorite part of head shaving.

Your head shape looks completely normal.  Give yourself 30 days to get used to it.  I felt about the same when I first shaved my head.  You need some time to get used to the look that the rest of us see all the time. You look extremely normal.

Embrace the sly look. It fits you well.

Looks great, your head shape is fine. Might just take a while to get used to.

Im in agreement with the others, you look great. No odd shape head or anything. Everyone has those worries at first, asbothers have said, but very few are right, and even those who arecright still look great shaved. In my opinion its a great look on any man.

That being said, keep it shaved or 0 buzzed for at least 30 days before deciding if you like it on yourself or not. It will give you time to adjust and your decision won't be based on initial gut reaction.  It does take some time to get used to. I only just started shaving my head 3 months ago, and although i do love being bald, i still occasionally get a bit of dhock at seeing myself in the mirror. Might be because i am bald by choice snd would have very thick hair if i let it grow back, and also the fact that i am 37 and had never even buzzed my hair very short prior, but anyway my point is although it will take a while, you will get used to it.
Bald by chioce, never going back

Had a look at your original pics and I have to say I think the no guard look really works for you.   Any concerns you have about the shape of your head actually aren't an issue. You look better with it shaved down and I'm not someone that says everyone looks better with a shaved head, as I don't actually believe that. However in your case I really think you do
