Hey guys
« on: March 16, 2016, 01:53:15 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm not sure what to say as an introduction really...but I'm Liam, I'm 22 and from England.

I've had my head shaved for an incredibly long time, and I come from a family where it's very much the norm!

Ask me anything - I don't mind!

Welcome, Liam

Welcome Liam.  So tell us; was your hair thinning or are you BBC (Bald By Choice).   How old were you when you began shaving?

Hi,

I'm bald by choice.

My hair was first clipped to a 0 when I was 11 just before starting secondary school, which was done partly to give me a tougher look and help me fit in, but also because it's very much the norm in my family. It was my parent's decision.

In the beginning, I wasn't very pleased! But the guys (and girls!) at school thought it was cool, and I got a lot of respect for it, so I very quickly came to love it and it became just natural to me. I had it the same way until I was 17 when I grew my hair out, and I had one of those messy-style cuts, but I got fed up with that and decided to shave my head again when I was 19. My girlfriend was a major influence on that. Nowadays I razor it smooth instead of having it clipped.

interesting,  at 11-12 I wanted a short buzz but mother objected.  when college away from home started i got a short buzz and that became norm.  shaving came later.  when i had sons we kept their hair as a very short buzz.  when they came of age they let it grow.  As adults they now all have shaved heads.  also interesting that short buzz and head shaving leading into piercing.

I had my first piercings done years before my head was first shaved.

My stepdad has been pierced and shaved for as far back as I can remember, from when I was only tiny. So it was pretty much a case of  just 'looking like dad', as my brother was (and is) the same too. That certainly helped to normalise it for both of us.
