A week away (gulp)
« on: March 10, 2016, 11:06:23 PM »

Hi guys,

Checking in again. I'm still planning to make the change. I'm going on vacation next weekend, and my plan is: next Friday after work I throw away the concealer and all my hair products, go to the barber and get a razor shave. I have to admit, I'm scared. I'm scared to show up at work with a big shiny bald spot after having a "full head" of hair. To those who say "they all know", I say I have no idea. Anyway it's over. I can't do this anymore, I want to be free, so here goes. It doesn't matter what I look like anymore. I just want to become someone who's happy in his skin, who exudes confidence and acceptance. Isn't that a way of being attractive?

I'm excited, too. I've had them laser the cherry angioma on my scalp and it's gone down a lot, to a small dot level with the skin. I've bought a Headblade and some Mach 3 (they seemed like the most popular choices here) so I'm going to try a week of each and see what works for me. I'm still getting all the products together. Still confused by it all—the witch hazels and the moisturizers and in what order and all. Here's hoping I don't get those red bumps that will throw me off.

Your support has meant the world to me. Thank you so much.

Here are some pics of me in various states/styles:

Get Real, thanks for posting the pics. Believe it or not...and this is my honest opinion...you're 35 going on 36 which is still young, but it's not like you're a 20 year old on a college campus (not that that should matter either), so there shouldn't be much of an age concern. Also, any prospective partner who avoids you based on how much hair on your head or any other physical feature is not worth your time. I'm guessing that the pictures you posted were over several years and not a matter of months, because that was some fast thinning if I ever saw it. It will get easier once you do the first swipe of the razor over your head. Keep us posted and feel free to ask further questions or just keep checking in for more encouragement. Good luck!

Nope, all recent. My hair is fake, a paint job, lol. It's stupid, believe me I know. I'm just embarrassed to let it go because everybody will see the sudden difference and know what I was doing. And, I can't go back.

You've got a good head and face for a shaved head. Don't wait. Do it now. If you wait, you will find another excuse to wait when your deadline passes. Just take the clippers to what you got left and liberate that scalp. You will feel great after.

you will great shaved. just do it.  of course you will get comments - as friends do have to say something.  won't be long though that they will fully accept you with shaved head.  it will also greatly increase your self confidence.

Being happy in your own skin.  What a GREAT motto for life.

Enjoy that first shave, sir. I believe strongly that this will give you that freedom you want.

Hey i was in the same predicament as you a few years ago using concealers etc but it's no way to live life. Yes people will be a shocked the first time they see you as are going to look different but after a few days no one will care and you can move on with your life instead of trying to hide your hairloss. A month after you shave you will look back and say what was i worried about???.The freedom that comes with shaving is brilliant .You don't have to fear the weather or people touching your hair. To make the most of your bald head hit the gym and dress A1.Best of luck buddy
Some men see things as they are and say why ?. I dream things things that never were and ask: why not ??

Nearly 3 years ago, I suddenly decided to shave off my full head of hair. I wanted to try it for a long time, so at 4am I got out the clippers with a 00000 blade and took it all off, then razored it in the shower. When my s/o got up she was shocked. After a few hours, she said I should keep shaving it. So I posted a photo on Facebook, and got nearly all positive comments.

I started to grow my hair back several times, but for many reasons, I decided to keep the bald head, and I shave it daily. Good luck, and try to commit to 30 days, and you will be hooked!
Bald by choice, and loving it!

Thanks so much guys. I am trying to let go. I'm humiliated to show people what I've been doing, but at least I won't be worried all the time anymore. I'm just taking a leap of faith that I will feel more confident bald and it will all seem obvious in the future.

Was in a similar situation, you will feel so much better without your "secret" no more worrying about people finding out, or if you get your hair wet or sweat etc... And from personal experience, people get used to it, fast. I'm so much more relaxed and enjoy being bald!
