Well as a result of some vertex baldness, I finally gave up the messy hair fiber fill ins, and starting shaving my head bald a little over a month ago. So far, I have mixed feelings. I am a black male, 44 yrs old, and barbers have always said I have a "high density" hair pattern. If you can see the pics, I just hate the fact that no matter what method I try, I can never get that super clean, smooth, bald shave. Especially in the back of my head, in the area of the actual bald spot, it shows the bald spot even more! What am I doing wrong?
Welcome, sir
Sorry it took so long to respond, but sometimes, my internet acts up and some posts slip through the cracks. Unfortunately, we all have to deal with the shadow. Your head may be smooth, but the shadow will still be there. Have you tried shaving with a single blade safety razor?
I have the same problem. I'm balding front and back, but the hair that is left is very thick. I'm white so I try to stay tanned to minimized the shadow. I have given up on the smooth, shiny look -- at least until I lose more hair, or it turns whiter and doesn't show as much against white skin.
I keep my hair around 1mm long, which I find to be much more comfortable than a close shave, and shadow-wise it looks about the same as a complete shave. The point is to embrace your baldness not to try to hide with a shave. Don't hide it. Make it part of your look. If that makes any sense.
The OP closed his account so I guess we will move on...
