Do you find shaving therapeutic?
« on: December 01, 2015, 09:12:09 PM »
Hey guys! :)
I was in the shower the other day having just finished shaving my head/face (I'm a sink shaver!) and i was thinking to myself how much i enjoy shaving and how therapeutic it is.

Do u enjoy it? Hate it? Do it for the sake of it?

How do you guys feel about it?

Darren67 :)

I find it really is therapeutic. I've been buzzing my hair down for close to 10 years now and never really felt comfortable with it, like it was really my only option with my thinning crown and only a few times did I consider going sly. Over the past almost 2 weeks of consistently shaving my head, I've really grown to enjoy it, and actually look forward to doing it, especially now that I've gotten better at it and finding what works for me.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. - Romans 12:2

Yes, I enjoy it. It takes me at least 30 minutes to shave head and face. I think the concentration it takes when using a double edge razor takes your mind of of everything else. Very therapeutic.

When I can take my time at the sink and use my brush and mug for warm lather, I find shaving very enjoyable.

Unfortunately, most days I shave in the shower and am finished within about three minutes, so it is a very utilitarian experience.

Kind of....when using the de...but its mixed with "please don't slice my head" as with cave dweller...I mainly shave in the shower, just on work days, as its quicker to use my fusion, though not as close a shave. But a nice shave with my ej at the weekend is something I enjoy.

I find it very meditative.
I shave pretty slowly, and I shave by feel in the shower. The warm water is relaxing and I have no helpful visual input, so I have to tune out my visual input and pay attention to what my fingertips tell me as I form a mental picture of my head in my head.
The sound and the feel of the hairs being sliced merged to form a synesthetic sensation as the blade scritches over my scalp.
And finally, the clean, slippery state of my head tells me that I've done well. Starting the day with a clean slate, as it were.

When I shower I do it in the dark. It helps me focus so by the time I get  to shaving my dome it is meditative. ( I shave with the lights on using my Mekur Progress.)

I find it very meditative. I've even made myself a special shaving playlist that includes the likes of Enya and Pavarotti. My wife finds it hilarious she's even offered to get me some candles to compete the package!

Candles, why not, what a nice wife, Rodey! I like a little Beach Boys or James Taylor myself.

This subject makes my think how dedicated most of us are to maintain our shaved heads. Seems we have alot of different reasons and routines, but all are connected by living with a bald head. It's something only we fully understand.
