Bald Patch advice
« on: November 07, 2015, 03:27:16 AM »
Hello all,

I'm 29 years old and have been thinning and balding for a while now and was just looking for some advice for getting my head clipped all over. I'm wanting to clip my head to make my bald patch look less obvious but not wanting to razor it as I think I'd look daft: My head is quite bumpy and is not round but more oval (vertically of course not like hey Arnold). I've been thinking of just getting a 1 or 2 all over but I'm worried the bald patch might still be too obvious.

If you guys could give me some advice I would certainly appreciate it. I'll also attach a picture to highlight the severity of the balding.

Cheers.

Scentless.....

You're balding at the crown like I did. What I did once I noticed my enormous bald spot was buzz my head. I started with a #4 and kept going down.  It looked neat but that bald spot was still there and stood out like a sore thumb.  With the encouragement of my fellow sly guys on here, I ended up shaving it completely with a razor. I can honestly say it was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made! It looks so good and neat and I have gotten many compliments on it. Most importantly, I don't have to worry about balding anymore.  My head isn't perfectly round either. Everyone has imperfections to their head but you'll find that we are our own worst critics.

I would guess that 90% of the guys here on this board thought their head shape was too odd to shave smooth before they shaved.  The truth is, nobody has a perfectly shaped head.  We all have bumps and ridges.

So, back to your question, I suggest you start with the buzz cut.  Give yourself some time to adjust and for family and friends to adjust, and gradually take the buzz shorter.  Then one day, take the razor to it and it will be a non issue.  You will love the smooth feeling of the razor blade shave and your bald spot worries will be over.
