Should I go shave it entirely down? :-)
« on: October 10, 2015, 01:04:39 PM »
Hello.

Not long ago I posted my "problem" in the introductions section. I must say, the amount of support and advice was out of this world. Thanks to everyone who took their time to make my day better.

I'm still experiencing the hair loss, and I decided to take it one step further and put up some pictures.
It took a lot of courage to put up these photos because I have never ever done this before.

I recently just cut it down to it's current lenght (15mm aka 3/4")
It was quite long before, so it sort of covered my high temples.

I decided to cut it down, because of the hair falling down. I kept noticing these long hunks of hair lying about and it just hit me hard and made me doubt myself.

Anyways, here goes.
Should I buzz it shorter, let it be this way or shave it all the way down?

*Note
I'm a 19 year old boy, so this hits my hard. I know things get better by time, but when you're in it, it's tough.

It used to look like this, before I cut it. (I cut it 10/10/2015)

It looks like this now

Again, sorry for the pictures. I am certainly not used to taking pictures like this on my own, hehe.
Anyways,

I look forward to your feedback and I thank you in advance.

First, you are 19 years old---19!!!!!! You have the world by the tail! Nothing, NOTHING, can spoil the rest of your life, unless YOU allow it to do so!

Second, you have the good fortune of having been born good looking.  If you develop a personality confidence and, most. Importantly, a character to match your good looks, you will be "invincible"!!

Third, yes your hairline is visably receded, but the hair that you do have is really nice and thick. You don't have to shave it yet unless you simply choose to do so because bald is a really nice hairstyle and you choose to rock it.  I think that you look damn good with a buzzcut and would look equally as good if you shave your head.   If I were to offer any "style" suggestion I would simply suggest that you go for a slightly shorter buzzcut and that you go to a young professional barber who knows how to fade/taper the sides, (people notice a man who has a professionally groomed look, even guys who shave their heads look better when they keep their facial hair well groomed!).

If you do "choose" to shave the noggin rest assured that you have a great head shape and a really nice skin - so you sure don't have to be afraid to show them off!

Well it doesn't look as if your balding that much to me
i think you should keep it as it is.
you could always try if you want going shorter i guess.
anyway i think that you should visit a doctor to see if its really baldness
and then decide if you want to do something about it, either accept it or use stuff to prevent it i know most people here are into going full on bald but i think that if you just started going bald you should give it a try at list to see what you can do because the longer you wait the worse it might get.

The buzz looks great! Thanks for the pictures. I don't think you should be in a rush to shave unless it's something you want to try. I will say that the buzz is a big improvement as opposed to the first picture, though.

You seem to be too critical to yourself. Your hairline is receded, but it's not so serious now.

You look very good with the buzzcut. But if you'll continue to worry about it, it is one of your choices to shave all off once, I think. Then you'll be able to see and decide yourself whether the new style suits you and you like it. Even if you wouldn't like it, you'd lose only one month... hair will grow up so long like now in one month at least.

It's your choice: shave it down and eventually lose one month, or keep it and eventually worry about it longer than one month. ;-)

The pictures look fine.  The buzz cut looks nice.  Looks like you don't NEED to shave your head unless you want to.  If you do, it will grow back to a short buzz style in 1-2 weeks, so nothing lost.

I found that when I used to buzz my head, I either had to buy haircuts pretty frequently, or do it myself (I did the latter). Not that hard to do.  Then I could adjust the length as I wished. I found I kept going shorter and short and liking it more and more.  I'm now BBC, and really like it.  So, I don't have to shave, but I enjoy the look and the feel of a smooth head. There's a bunch of us on here in that category.

19 is pretty young to sport a bald head, but some guys do by choice.  Looks like you are in that category.

You look just a bit older with the shorter hair.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback.

I went to my dermatologist and he said it's not the typical signs of balding. He mentioned it could be just the way my hairline was always meant to be, so the hairs falling out is just hairs that were meant to - if that makes sense.
Sort of like alopecia areata just happening in the temples - he couldn't determine it just yet and said I should wait it out and see what happens.

As for my current cut, I'll probably go ahead and trim it down even further - maybe even go to the barber to get it professionally done (cheers for that :-))

I would keep at a short buzz - getting shorter and shorter as you desire.  You look great with that.

I would keep the buzzcut, suits you well and looks neater too.
First started shaving my head on the 9th October 2014

You definitely suit a long buzz cut, but personally, I think you should take your hair down to at least a #1.....If you like that, then go another step further and have a #0 clipper shave. This will give you an idea of how you are going to look with a shaved bald head. I think you will actually look really good with a shaved head.

Confidence will come as you accept yourself for who you are: A cool, sly dude!
Don't worry about other peoples words or what they think - it is your hair, your choice.

All the best.
