Ever heard of Kalo Hair removal? Hair Inhibitor?
« on: August 22, 2007, 10:32:19 AM »
Hi,
Has anyone ever heard of Kalo? It is a hair inhibitor. I found it at www.1bodycare.com/kalo-ni.htm. Let me know if you have used it or know of anyone who has.
Thanks,
Dusty

JDog,

Check out the website I posted. It is an ad for their product, but maybe it isn't all BS. I found that website on www.about-hair-removal.com/hair-inhibitors.htm#WhatAreThey. I don't think it mentioned using it on your head but I just read through it quick.

It sure would be great to have something that slowed down the growth rate.   I still worry about the hair removal thing after having a bad reaction with a hair removal cream recommended for black guys who want the bald look..burns the heck out of your noggin and definitely not worth it.

Paul,

I emailed the dermatologist to see if he heard of the product and if it was safe for the scalp. I'll let you know what he says.

It doesn't mention using it on your head.  I'm interested in hearing what your dermatologist says.

Morning,

Here is the response I got from the Derm. I have to check the website again, but I thought it was FDA approved. Let me know what you think.

Here is your answer from Meagan, our skin care expert:

I'm sorry but before you mentioned this product I had never heard of this before. The websites pertaining to this product are not extremely informational and the product did not seem to be FDA approved so I'm not sure of any studies or results of this product. I apologize that I cannot be more helpful. Best skin care wishes. Meagan, Esthetician

Looks like a light bulb to me, if you look closely you can see the printing on the top.
Uncle Fester would always light up the bulb this way, lol.

It's light bulb. One of my customers at the Chicago Produce Market decided it would be a good idea. So, I played along. Gotta be able to laugh at myself I guess.

Here is the last thing I heard about the Kalo hair inhibitor. I don't know what to say. I think it's not really worth the $70 for a 4oz bottle. Looks like I didn't find the magic pill. This is the reply from a rep who sells the Kalo:

Hi Dusty:

Nair is a depilatory which contains strong chemicals
which basically melt the hair into a gloopy mass which
can then be washed off. Hair regrows after so many
days depending on the individual.

Kalo on the other hand is a hair growth inhibitor. The
enzymes in the product get into the hair follicle and
slow down the hair growth. Kalo in itself is not a
hair remover. It works with hair removal methods such
as waxing or shaving to make regrowth slower. (It
can't be used with a depilatory such as Nair as the
chemicals in the depilatory interfere with the action
of Kalo.)

So if you are currently shaving you can expect Kalo to
slow down the hair growth so you don't have to shave
so often. It will not however stop the hair growth.

Hope this helps.

With best wishes.

P.S. Here is a good research site for head shavers:

(I have no commercial connection with this site. It is
purely for your information.)

You may not have found the magic pill bassman, but it still would be great to slow down the growth rate so that a guy could shave less often.  THis would also obviously cut down on irritation and bumps then too, since shaving is reduced.   Do you know if this product is available commerically or only on line?

Yes Dusty, It would be interesting to try this product out to see if it really did slow hair growth down.

The rep you spoke to doesnt seem to be real specific on how it does this.

$70 is a bit steep though!  I'm not sure I have that much loose $$ floating around for that...  :'(
