Okay, so I could have just posted this in my other thread to shave or not to shave, but wanted to thank you all for convincing me to just keep it short. I had gone from a 3, to a 2, down to a 1, then finally a 0. Today I just did a #00000 at shop (kinda short on time to take it off myself with clippers atm and noone to help me so just had them do it) Also, to show my progression from 3 down to a 1 to 0 and what i got now. I can say when the 0 went to about a 1 to maybe a 2 it felt much too long on my head already.
with that being said,

Is there any difference in appearance between a clean smooth shave from a #00000 ? keep in mind my hair is dark so i figured for lighter haired folks you wouldn't be able to tell

just a little vanity from me kinda proud i went through with it.. I do think i look a lot better without the obvious thinning :) thanks to you all. (pics go from a size 3- all the way to the 5 times 0 )

There is a #000000 that will leave about 5 hours' hair growth vs. the 10 hours' growth that a #00000 leaves. The look from a distance is about the same once you get to the #000 & below and most people consider anything #1 or shorter as "shaved".  The difference with the razor shave is mostly the feel, although since your hair is dark, you may notice the appearance difference more. Based on your pictures and your obvious satisfaction with the shorter clipper lengths, you will probably like the razor shave. My hair is white, so there's not much difference.   I also have experienced the feeling of a #1 or #2 length being "too long" once I got used to keeping my hair at the #0 levels.

Not a lot of difference - kind of like the difference between a fresh razor shave on your face and a 5 O'Clock shadow.

The visual difference is small.  The feel is quite different.  I love the feel after a fresh shave...don't love 24 hours of stubble...and then don't mind how 2-3 days' growth feels.

  • Addicted to head shaving.
I agree with Tobler.

The visual difference between a multi-0 clipper and shaved is nil.

The feel is amazing. A freshly shaved head has a super smooth feel that is out of this world.  It's what keeps a lot of the SBG guys shaving every day. That nice fresh shaved feel.  By evening, there is just a bit of stubble and it's not as smooth. Still looks the same.

It's certainly worth giving the razor a try for a month. The look will be the same, the feel is where the difference is. Do take the 30 day challenge. the first few days the shave may not be as smooth as you expect ... take a little bit to master the smooth shave technique.  You'll have it figured out in a month and the time to shave will drop dramatically over that month.

As Tobler said the visual difference is small, but the feeling is completly different. You will like the smooth shaved dome. :)
