Thinking of taking the plunge
« on: August 11, 2015, 01:46:53 PM »
Looking for some advice outside of my wife whatever makes you feel better response.

I'm thinning and can't decide if I should go in the 2-3 guard range or go all the way. Do you think it will suit my facial structure?

Yes, it will suit your facial structure.  #3 will still be way too long.  Take it down to at least a #2. Start with #2 and if you feel comfortable with what you see, proceed towards #1.  The best solution is a complete shave, but sometimes it's easier to work up to that in stages.  Good luck.

I'd recommend going all the way, since it would only take a couple extra weeks to grow out if you don't like it vs a 2-3 guard buzz.

Shave it, you have a good head shape for it.

I would at least start with a #2...definitely try a shorter cut than what you have presently.

Don't mess around - shave it.  You will look great.  A #3 buzz will just look like a newborn chick.

I think your face and head shape would certainly suit a shaved head.  At the very least, I don't think your current cut is doing you any favors, and a short buzz or full shave would greatly improve things.

I would suggest a short buzz initially and then shaved it.  You will look great.

I've decided to take it all the way down. Going to do it on Friday evening so I don't have to put up with all my coworkers asking me about it for a couple days.  Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it.

One quick question... does anyone use Nivea post shave balm on their head? I use it on my face and like it. My wife also loves the smell, so I guess thats a pro for going sly. It doesn't burn my face at all, but I'm concerned it will burn my head.

If you go for the razor shave,  try rubbing your head with an ice cube and then apply the Nivea. The ice cube keeps the pores open and will keep you from having breakouts. Good luck!

My hair was about your length when I shaved it off for the first time. Maybe you can include your wife in the process by letting her clipper it off. You won't believe how great your head feels when shaved. You will probably need some sun on your head, but be super careful not to burn.

After my first headshave, I put a photo up on Facebook right away, saying "my new summer haircut". Got almost all positive comments. Good luck, and enjoy.

I'm a youth minister so I've decided to let the kids in the youth group take it down to a 1 tonight. Should be fun for them. After that I'll slick it up when I get home pics in The morning.

Nice that you're working with our youth, and noble of you to get them involved. Good luck and enjoy!
