Hey guys,
So I took the plunge this morning and am officially bald by choice. I've thought off an on about shaving my head for past couple of years but was anxious about making such a drastic change especially because I have a full head of hair.
This summer I've been working outdoors and got in the habit of buzzing my hair usually to a 3 or 4 and last night I was giving myself a trim when the guard fell off. I ended up with a no guard buzz. This morning I was running an errand across town and passed a barbershop that advertised shaves and decided to get a wet shave since there would be little difference in appearance. I love the feel of it though I need a bit of sun for sure.
So far I've gotten only positive feedback from my friends. Why was I so afraid? What do you all think? I attached a before photo of my typical haircut for comparison.

IMHO, it looks great! There was nothing "wrong" with your old haircut - but in my opinion - it was rather "Ho Hum". Nothing special about it. The shaved head with the dark beard is striking; and gives you a commanding presence.

So much better. Looks great with the fullbeard - not that I am biased.
As many have said previously 'why did I wait so long"
Just watch out for the sun until the noggin tans up a bit especially as you work outside.

Looks great on you. My suggestion is that you let your beard gain some length. I don't mean cave man, but maybe to 1 inch or so. It would really look good with the sly dome.

I shaved my head myself for the first time this morning. I was really nervous because my hair is super thick and curly when its longer and one the reasons first grew my beard was to avoid persistent irritation.
That being said it went really well. I started off by washing my scalp with a facial soap and used a gillette fusion razor and shaving cream for sensitive skin. I shaved with the grain, re-lathered and shaved against the grain. Can't believe how smooth it is! I finished by applying a moisturizing sun block. There was only one minor nick and no real irritation.
