Shaving Help!!
« on: May 11, 2015, 11:46:59 AM »
Hello everyone, new poster, 2 year lurker. Been shaving my head for about 2 years now. I finally decided to register and post today because I am out of ideas. I am a 29 year old Hispanic male that suffers from razor bumps and seb derm in the scalp. My seb derm comes and goes with the seasons but its the razor bumps that are starting to get to me and kill my confidence.

Ive read a few articles here about shaving, how to shave, what to use, razors, proper shaving etc but nothing seems to be working for me. Ive tried SO many diff products to help with razor bumps but i still get them. My overall scalp condition just doesnt look as healthy as i'd like it to be.

Things ive tried.
With grain, against
Safetly Razors (3, 4, 5 blades)
Tons of diff creams/gels (Expensive, cheap)
Cremo Cream
Shave soaps
Double edge razor handles
Headslick products (Both cream and clear head)
Shampoo's
Aftershaves, Balms, multiple brands
Bump Patrol
The list goes on. It really does....

Most people would just say stop shaving since i only get them when i shave my head every two or three days but im out of ideas. I saw something in the store called magic razorless cream shave and im tempted to try it. On the front it states that its mainly for black men but i dont see the harm in testing a small patch on my dome. Any one have good or bad experience with this? Im hoping this may be my cure for razor bumps. Maybe my skin just doesnt like shaving with a razor. Any advice is welcomed!

Regards,
thedirkguy

I've been shaving almost 2 years. I have seb_dermatitis too, it almost disappears if I shave daily. When I started out, I had some razor bumps, but the Bump Patrol helped. The thing that worked best was, switching to a DE razor. Seldom ever get razor burn now.

The one suggestion I have is to try a foil type electric shaved. I have a Remington, and it gets it closer than a with the grain shave, but no razor bumps. Good luck.

I agree if you can't shave with a blade without getting razor bumps try very good quality electric razor.

Thank guys, the one thing i havent tried was an electric razor because i do love a good close shave. It just bothers me when the light hits my dome and you can see a bunch of tiny razor bumps from skin irritation. Some one else suggested i learn to use a straight razor like the barbers but im way too chicken. My end will end up with all sorts of scars.
