Took the leap, shaving regularly for good.

So I made the leap on Friday night. I decided to shave my head and to keep doing it from now on.
I’ve been losing it for years, it’s hereditary, and short of getting a wig or joining The Hair Club For Men that you see on late night TV ads there is nothing I can do to stop it. At this point I’m really not depressed about it anymore and I’m more or less “over it”. I’m not gonna be “comb over guy” or “guy that you always see wearing a hat”, I’m just ready to move on.
My Mom’s side of the family was always pretty bad for hair loss and I think in a way that kind of braced me for this. I ran into my cousins who I hadn’t seen in years when they were 25 and their hair was half gone at that point. And they had thin, straight hair exactly like mine. Granted my Uncle was also bald, but my Aunt’s genes (my Mom’s family) probably contributed. My Great Grandpa was also bald too. So at 18 I kind of had a sobering realization that this was coming.
I think in away it made it easier to accept this. More so then having it start all of the sudden. I pretty much figured that every year over 25 that I had it still made me lucky. I made it to 34 so I had a good run. I figure I could have stretched it out for about 2 more years before there were REALLY started to look “unpresentable” in my eyes but I figure it was better to go out on top then let it affect my self consciousness.
So I did it Friday night, but not without some much appreciated help. I want to sincerely thank Derris The Barber for actually walking me through the entire process of shaving my head over Skype on Friday night! When I messaged him a few questions about his hair clipper reviews that he had done he offered to walk me through shaving my head on video chat. It was a HUGE HELP having him guide me through it and show me the proper direction to cut in with the clippers and even the head blade when I shaved it with the razor. Having someone with good experience and a barber no less was a major help! Instead of being a bloody mess I came out of it with only a small nick and much better understanding of how to do this the proper way.
I did it Friday night so I haven’t “gotten out into the world” much yet. I’m curious to see what people at work think on Monday but I expect the response to be positive. My boss about 4 other people in my office are bald and shave regularly so it’s not going to be a look that’s shunned. I’m probably going to joke about it in our weekly meeting that the baldies are starting to take over!
As I get reactions to this change I'll update.

Once again you're more than welcome sir! I was happy to help you out and make the expericene a success instead of a bloody mess. Is there anyone else interested in the headshaving lessons? Plus the bald and bearded look fits you very well.
