Hello everyone. I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Nick. I stumbled across your forum while seeking out information on hair loss. I'm currently losing hair on the front and back. I started losing it around the time I turned 30. I'm 35 now. I once enjoyed a full head of hair, but after 5 years of decline I decided last fall to start buzzing it. It's been a good look for me. I've been anywhere between 1/2 to 1/8th in length. I enjoy the shorter length as it feels better. I'm also blessed with lots of white hair... thanks Dad.

So once spring arrives in Northern NH, hopefully by mid to late April I'm going to finish taking it all off. I'm going sly for the summer and if I like it, I'll just keep it. At the rate I've been losing my hair in the back of my head this past year I only have a year to maybe two left before I have that designer "M" on top of my head anyway. So that's a quick over view of myself. I've enjoyed reading a lot of the threads posted here. They have been informative and inspirational and hopefully I can add value to this forum over time.

Hello, Nick. Welcome to SBGs! Good decision to start buzzing. I think you'll really enjoy being totally smooth. Why wait till mid April? I'm in CT. It's been brutally cold here this winter but nothing a warm beany can't fix.

Welcome Nickd! I like your attitude!

Guess you already have an idea about how you will look shaven, as you already buzz your hair really short, and am sure you are going to look great!

Welcome, Nick!
Don't worry too much about the white hairs on top... when you start shaving it may help reduce the dark shadow that so many guys have to contend with.

Thanks for the welcoming comments.
Mike E.P. ~ The only reason I'm choosing to wait a few more weeks is because I want to safely get a little color on my head before presenting my new look to the masses. I'm quite sure if I shaved it now my head would be as white as snow and probably look a little odd even to me. None the less I'm waiting impatiently for mother nature to cooperate.

Glad you joined us, Nick.
I shaved off my horseshoe in January as I figured my face would be at its palest and thus would more closely match the pallor of my scalp under the hair. I never thought about buzzing it short for a while to let the sun get to that skin first. Hope it works out for you.
If you are like most of us here, once you shave, you are going to be asking yourself why you waited so long to do it.

Hi Nick
Welcome to the Sly Bald Guys forum. You've come to the right place.
Consider the 30 day trial. Shave your head clean bald every day for 30 days. If you like it, keep it.
This is what I did. And that over 3 years ago. Been sly ever since.

I did the same as Mr. Jules ... also 3 years ago. Still sly. I enjoy the look and feel of the smooth head.
Welcome. Give the 30 day rule a try.

I'll have no problem going the 30 days and beyond I'm sure of it. I feel like being partially bald kinda puts you in limbo. You don't have a full head of hair, but you're not totally bald yet either. Going smooth will complete the hair loss chapter for me and also me to just completely move on. I'm betting based on how much better my head feels with a short buzz cut that going smooth will be even more refreshing.
As for getting a little color first, it's as simple as this. It's still winter here as evidence by the snow we are getting right now as I write this. It hasn't been above 40 yet either, but it will be in a few weeks. Or at least I hope. I'm so done with winter.
