Can't find a good replacement for my electric trimmer
« on: March 01, 2015, 08:23:19 AM »
Hey guys, any help is appreciated here. New poster but I've read the forum a few times and love it.

I shave my head bald w/ an electric trimmer. I've been using a norelco model (link below) for YEARS. It's $20 so it's easy to replace as it goes dull, and it actually gives a really tight buzz w/ no guard. I've probably owned 5-6 of these, replacing it as it goes dull. It's discontinued now, impossible to find, etc. You can see it's listed for $170 on Amazon now and there's 1 left haha.

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-G370-Grooming-System/dp/B000FED5DU/

It's been replaced by this:

http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-QG3330-Multigroom-Packaging/dp/B00ARF42H0/ref=dp_ob_title_home

The replacement item is utter garbage. It's a fine beard trimmer but it doesn't cut close at all. Useless for a head shave.

I'm really having trouble finding a good replacement. Just looking for a relatively simple trimmer that can shave my head down w/ no guard. I'd prefer something that has a battery you charge, rather than a power cord that requires it to be plugged in.

Any help? any recommendations?  As a final note, in case it wasn't clear, the goal is to get as close to bald as possible with this. I don't mind the stubble look but I need a tight shave.

Welcome! Sorry it took so long to get a response.

When I used to clipper shave, the Andis outliner series did a nice job of giving my head a clean appearance with a stubble you could only feel but could only see up close. The Andis costs about $55 and can be just as effective as what you had before. Good luck!

I recently bought this one and it works well for hair, nose, beard.    Lithium Ion too.

Roandogg, I purchased that same exact Norelco a few months ago thinking that I was upgrading from a Wahl I had been using for almost a year and a half.
http://www.amazon.com/Wahl-9854-600-Lithium-Ion-Trimmer/dp/B001GQ3GEY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427284191&sr=8-1&keywords=wahl+lithium+ion+trimmer

To tell the truth I was just trying to save a buck but after the first shave with the Norelco I instantly knew that I was going to have to return it immediately.
Burned from my failed experiment I did what I should have done at first and just picked up this

Have had no issues so far and I highlyl recommend it with all of it's attachments!

I use this to keep my clippers in tip top shape

This is what I use when I don't want to take the time to shave with a blade.

This one works very very good.

Have a great Day.
