Kids Say The Darnedest Things
« on: January 16, 2015, 06:10:32 AM »
I've worked with children the last two years but just recently shaved my head again. I got the usual OOS and AHS and questions like "what happened to your hair?" But the best was when I told a room full of toddlers that if they made a wish a rubbed my head gently their wish may come true. I had a line of wishers and they waited so patiently. One child rubbed it and made a pleased sound followed by the comment "You look horrendous".

I've had somewhat similar experiences with some of my kids.  However, the last one was quite wrong!

Yes, kids say the funniest things.  I have 2, a 14yr old girl and a 12yr old boy.

The other day we where ridding in my truck somewhere and my girl asked about why I was growing my beard out and my boy said "he is trying to look like Si". My girl asked "Si"?  Boy said "you know off Duck Dynasty, next thing you know he'll be sliming down and wearing Camo"

They crack me up, but never take what they say to seriously.

I teach in an elementary school. I can't tell you how many times I am told, "Mr. Pearce, you're bald." As if I didn't know.  My own kids for years wanted to know when I was going to grow back my "wedding hair."
Bronx bald and bred!

Kids do say the darndest things; and they are often so sincere!  But usually they don't mean to be hateful or malicious.

Just blunt !!!

I'm sure we've all said similar things when we were kids.  I certainly have, as I've been told of it.
First started shaving my head on the 9th October 2014

It has been the same with a child who made the same comment about my appearance. Things that happen ...
