New to this
« on: January 04, 2015, 11:51:04 AM »
Hello all,
I'm 22 and began expeirencing some thinning.  I came across this site and became intrigued by the idea of shaving my head.
Like many other members I too am uncertain in my beginnings as to whether or not I can become comfortable enough with the all-bald head.
My concern is with head shape from the front-facing perspective. I've always been aware that I have a large head, but getting rid of my hair has revealed my true head shape. My head is much wider than my face/jaw, and in at certain angles it appears that my right side is slanted compared to the left.
I guess im just curious if anyone else has experienced this as well, or any other comments, etc.

Thanks

Welcome to the board! I think sly would look good, especially with that nice beard coverage. Headshape is always an illusion, but after we shave, the head doesn't look as big in most cases. You could always give sly a try, and if you don't like it a short buzz should be back within two weeks. Good luck!

I have a extra large head as measured in hat size. Head size is really a perspective issue.  Other's don't see you the way you see yourself. You look normal.

The buzz looks very nice and you'd do well with taking the razor to your head.  At this point, after the 30 days rule, you can grow it back, if you want, but I bet you'll like it alot.

Welcome.

Glad you joined us, Beardson!

Picking up on what Harry and MrZed have stated, we usually are our own worst critics. We see and amplify personal imperfections that other people either never notice or never think about when they see us. I think your head has a good shape and is not at all too large.

You have nothing about which to worry, sir.

I agree with all the others. Your head looks fine. If your read around the Forum, you'll see many of us concerned with head size and in almost all cases, our heads are really  just normal.

I think you'll look good razor shaved and bald.

I'm with the rest of the guys you look great with the short buzz and you will also look great with a razor shaved head. i personally have a small head i can't buy adult sized hats i don't let that stop me from having a shaved head even though it makes my head look even smaller

Your beard is really nice, and I agree with everyone else that the short buzz looks good, and I think you'd look equally good (if not better) if you try out the slick smooth look.  Keep us posted.

Like the others have said, worrying about your head size is all in your head. I'm sure it will be just fine and that you'll get used to the bald look in no time.

Thank you all for your responses.
I decided to go down to a no-guard clippers buzz. I haven't used a razor for shaving since I was a teenager, but i am liking the neatness in this length. I noticed that the sides and back of my head have a smooth feel while the top retained a tight stubble texture so I will be going razor shopping soon to scrape the rest.
I'm grateful for this site, and I am looking forward to reading more.

Very nice.

Now the difference from the no guard clipper and a shaved head, LOOKS just about the same.  The difference is in the feel.  The smooth head feels really nice.

You can rock a shaved head.
