New Years Shave

So as you guys can see I've let my hair grow its been about a month and a half alive my last head shave I'm fairly sure I think I know. I had a Mohawk for half of November, but then buzzed it all to a 1 guard. The reason I let it grow was I did not want to hear the slack from my family for havering a shaved head, my family is very opinionated. Anyways my grandma made her opinion know that she hated my I'm guessing about a 2 - 2 1/2 guard hair. She wants me to have more hair on my head. I did learn by growing it out I have a very minor thinning spot on the back of my head. But anyways the reason for my post is do you guys think I should start 2015 sly or should I leave the buzzed look

I think that you should do what YOU want to do and what FEELS best.

My grandma was always very hard on me too - even though no one in the family did more for her or spent as much time with her as I did.  She didn't like my High and Tight Flattop - and boy did she let me know it!  But you know what?  On her death bed, when she was 96 years old, her last words to me were; "I love you Honey.  You always do so much for me, you always have."  So you see, no matter what she says to you about your hair, she loves you very much.  If she didn't she wouldn't care how you look!

As for my personal opinion; I think that you look equally good either way.  But my preference, given the fact that you still have a full hair line, albeit somewhat narrow because of your receding temples, is that you should stick with the mohawk.  I think that everything about the mohawk fits your face, your head and your personality.

It was fun having the Mohawk but I do as I'm sure everyone on here does love the feel of a smooth head

You just have to do what makes you happy. Shave it bald, enjoy it for a while. With your dark hair, you have a nice buzzcut in a week or so. After shaving my head for most of the last 1.5 years, a couple of my oldest friends still are uncomfortable, but too bad. Had an outstanding 45 minute DE head and face shave today. BB smooth, looks and feels terrific!

I won't be letting it grow next time I go home now that they know I'm starting to loose it me shaving it won't be as much of a shock. I do have the feeling I will be shaved just not sure if it's going to be at New Years or after that

My opinion is stay with your hair. I think you look better.
But I think you prefer to be again sly...am I right? Then go. Do what you like more and don't listen others...after one month they will forget nowadays all people said me why didn't make it earlier....at first 10-15 days was shocked

My opinion is the same as the others, do what you want and not what grandma wants.  So if you like the buzz or the Mohawk, do that.  If you like changing it up, rotate styles. 

I had made the decision early on that I would shave with the first sight of MPB.  Now, 4 years later, I seem to have full MPB going on.  I never wore the fringe.  Since you have noticed thinning starting, you may not have much time left to enjoy having hair, so now may be the time to have hair, while you still can.

I can remember trying to grow out my hair some for  events where I'd be seeing people I hadn't seen in a long time and didn't feel like dealing with their comments.  The very last time I did it was for a wedding.  I grew out to a #1 buzz starting about 10 days ahead of it.  When I got there, the first thing I saw was three or four other guys with completely shaved heads.  And I still had to endure bald jokes from a bunch of old men with combovers.  Appeasement is never a good strategy.

What is it that you want?  Family and friends will eventually come around.  The first time they see you might be a little awkward, but once you get past that, it's rarely a problem.  You look good either way.  I'm guessing that what you really want is to be bald; otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I shaved and grew my hair back a number of times before finally sticking with the bald look.  I can honestly say that every time I let my hair grow back, I regretted it.  I was always much happier being bald, once I learned not to let others try to control me with their comments.

You've got options, so do what makes your heart and head happy...I, myself, am happy being smooth.  So I suspect 2015 will be the first of probably many years that I am bald all 365 days, or close to it, give or take a few days of sickness!  So enjoy whatever you choose!
