Followin' That Star Out Yonder

(Those of you raised in a small, Texas town like I was may not get this.)

A small town in Texas was happy to be able to build and display a life sized nativity scene in its main square for the first time this year. A great deal of skill and talent went into creating it to be as realistic and faithful to the scripture as possible. Everyone in the town was impressed with its authenticity.

One visitor to the town, however, noticed something about the display that he could not comprehend. The three wise men were wearing firemen’s helmets. Totally unable to fathom why this might be, the visitor inquired at the city hall as to what was meant by those helmets. When he posed his question to the town clerk, she snorted and looked at him as if she thought he was completely ignorant.

"People like y'all obviously don't read their Bible no more," she said. "Don't ya know it says right there in the gospel that them three wise men come from afar?"

Merry Christmas, gentlemen!
